Didn't Cabrera also beat Kobayashi in a hot dog eating contest..or am I thinking of someone else?

    Baseball America chat wrap

Craig (PA): Please tell me the Dodgers won't give in to a package for Kemp, Laroche and Kershaw for Cabrera? Is there a more reasonable package that could get the Dodgers a new 3B?

SportsNation Jim Callis: You never know, as I think there's some pressure to win and Ned Colletti isn't adverse to discussing dealing his young guys. If they want Cabrera, it may well cost them something along those lines.
Chuck (San Diego, CA): Is Kershaw your top pitching prospect still in the minors?

    SportsNation Jim Callis: Yes.
Carlos (NYC) : LaRoche or Longoria?

    SportsNation Jim Callis: Longoria.

So, do you trade the kids for Miggy or do you spend the cash and hold onto the kids for A-Rod?

I would probably sign A-Rod. Then try and deal LaRoche and probably another prospect for a pitcher.

I think that makes more sense than trading off 3 top prospects for Cabrera.

Or do you trade prospects for Cabrera, then use the money saved from having Miggy instead of A-Rod to sign T. Hunter to play CF.

I love the thought of what Kershaw could turn out to be, but again, Edwin Jax and Miller were at one time considered the #1 and #2 pitching prospects in the MLB.

Basically, would you rather have Miguel Cabrera and Torii Hunter, or A-Rod and the prospects?

    How does this sound:

    Furcal
    Martin
    Loney
    Cabrera
    Kent
    Hunter
    Ethier
    Pierre

The most interesting trade parameter mentioned (at the GM meetings in Orlando) is what the Marlins may ask the Dodgers for, in return for All-Star third baseman Miguel Cabrera: third baseman Andy LaRoche, minor league pitcher Clay Kershaw and an outfielder -- perhaps Matt Kemp.

    per ESPN INSIDER Buster Olney.

I read this on a blog that was coincidently posted by some LGKer on here. I forget who, but its funny.

    On the above rumors-

Jesus. Well, someone’s off base here, because there’s no way in hell you can call that “less than what Texas got for Teixeira.” I mean, why stop there? Why not throw in Russell Martin, the deed to Dodger Stadium, and the corpse of Roy Campanella?

I would too, but I don't know if McCourt is going for that type of contract. If we can't sign A-Rod then I would rather put LaRoche at third and try and sign Andruw Jones and move Pierre to left.
