BTW, the emphasis in the last quote was my own.

Really appreciate the link FBJ. I hope Ned just not saying the right things here. I really think the right thing to do is get another starter (Santana??) and get Aaron Rowland. He would be the right guy in CF. Then move Kemp to right, let him try to be that big bat in the middle of the lineup. Then move Pierre to LF. If they are so hot after a 3B then make a move on a minor guy (Crede?) who is steady with the glove and comes up with the timely hit.

I think they can do themselves a big favor by following the route of allowing the kids to develop and go from there. Both AZ and COL went the youth route and see what happened. It could work for the Dodgers as well as long as they have veteran pitching.

It also says he wants 15M+ for at least 5 years. I've got no problem with that deal but I'd find out what Andruw Jones is looking for and if if he wants similar cash I'd prefer seeing him signed.

Jones is two years younger, has more power, plays a near equally strong CF, has a lot more post-season experience and has been historically healthier than the 32 year old Hunter.

I keep hearing that because of his extremely subpar year, Jones can only expect a 1-year contract.

If Boras can't secure him a big time deal that's what he'll have to do. Take a one year and prove it type deal.

With the way money has been being thrown around it seems likely that he can get something long term.

I'm not enamored by anybody in this CF class. Yea, Hunter would be fine but he's getting up their in age. CF isn't exactly a position of youth.

Rowand I don't want, he's had maybe 1 good year(last year) in his career. Maybe 2? There's no way he replicates what he did in Philly in LA.

The worst part of all this is if we get a CF we woudl still play Pierre in left, taking Ethier out of the lineup.

Nothing groundbreaking but I thought I'd throw it up here for the sake of discussion.

    Boston Herald

The weekend came and went without Mike Lowell coming any closer to rejoining the Red Sox. While general manager Theo Epstein continued talks yesterday with Lowell's agents, Sam and Seth Levinson, there still appears to be a healthy divide in terms of what the Sox are offering and what the third baseman feels he might be worth on the open market. With the New York Yankees cooling on the idea of offering a deal to Lowell to play first base, his best option might be the Los Angeles Dodgers, who continue to be linked with the Los Angeles Angels as the main suitors for Florida Marlins third baseman Miguel Cabrera.

LaRoche must have banged Colletti's niece or something. What does this guy have to do to get a fair shot at third?

You know how it goes. The Dodgers will sign some aging vet, he'll suck, and come July, Laroche will be the starting 3rd baseman. Meanwhile, another crappy contract will be on the books.

Signing Lowell wouldn't be terrible, but I wouldn't like it. The thing I'm scared about is handing Nomar the third base job.
