I don't understand why Ned has a hard on for these 30 something year old free agents. Hasn't he been paying attention to the progress of the prospects? LaRoche just finished tearing it up for Team USA and Kershaw has been lights out since he was drafted.
And our other "prospects" (Kemp, Loney, Broxton, Billingsley) are not prospects anymore. They're legit major leaguers.
I agree with sticking with LaRoche at 3rd as long as we are going to acquire power at another position. If you have the chance to trade for a Miggy or sign an A-Rod, you do it. On the other hand, if you need to give up the farm for Miggy, forget about it. Lets let these kids develop and show what they can do.
We need a legit CF!

Dodgers lead in Cabrera race.......Kemp, LaRoche, Kershaw seems to be the favorite package. I REALLY REALLY hope that doesn't happen. I honestly think we are better off with our 3 pieces instead of 1 dynamite player. I honestly think Kershaw will be something special, and would HATE to give him up. Kemp and Cabrera would be a wash, and ****! give Andy a shot for God's sake Ned!
Overall you make good points but this one made me laugh.
Kemp and Cabrera is a wash? Now I'm as high on Kemp as any Dodger fan but there's no way Kemp=Cabrera. Even if Cabrera is fat and he has to move positions while Kemp plays a more premium one. Cabrera can flat out mash with the best of them.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. While I want to go with the play the kids philosophy, I won't be up in arms if we acquire Miguel Cabrera. He's a big time difference maker in any lineup.
ok i shoulda been more clear in that respect. I meant it a wash as in I'd deal Kemp for Cabrera any day of the week, so it wouldn't bother me at all. But to add LaRoche AND Kershaw??? hell no!
Kemp and Laroche is much more bearable, but no way in hell FLA does that either. So I'd rather pass.
I still ****ing hate the idea of trading Kershaw and Kemp for Cabrera. Kershaw is going to be an ace and Kemp is going to be a perennial all star.
