And don't forget SP James McDonald, who was named (over Kershaw) as the minor league pitcher of the year.

It's be hard to find another team with young talent to match the Dodgers, even if Kemp, Kershaw, and LaRoche are all dealt.

We'd still have pitchers (SP -Bills, McDonald, RP-Meloan, Broxton) along with potential or already starting players at C (Martin), 1B (Loney), 2B (Abreu), SS (Hu, then Mattingly), and OF (Ethier, Young).

I think we can risk a couple young players for an established 3B superstar bat that is under 25.

Homegrown talent is great, but we don't need a homegrown prospect at every position.

    Not exactly. No.

Well, then maybe Ned can sell the Marlins on McDonald instead of Kershaw.

I am not convinced he is what the Dodgers should have on their ballclub. I know he is a great hitter and he is only 24.

I only have heard of the horror stories of him. He likes to eat (and who doesn't), likes to party, and is somewhat of a problem in the clubhouse. It the Dodgers were to sign him, it would obviously have to be long-term.

    Meloan
    Broxton
    Abreu
    Young
    Hu
    Miguel Freaking Cabrera (he's 24)

Again, I'm ambivalent about this prospective deal. It's the one that puts me on the fence. Losing Bills and Kershaw or Loney and Kemp would be too much. But not giving up at two of those four will not be enough to get Miggy.

But I think ASU said it best: I'm not going to be up in arms if we make it. Nor will I be hating life if we don't, as I'd love to see what the kids do next year.

I'm not going to be devastated it that trade goes down, but I don't think it's in the best interest of the Dodgers. I know that Miggy is only 24, but Kemp is only 23. Kemp hit .342 and slugged .521 last year. Plus, Kemp has speed. Barring an extension, Miggy would only be under control for 2 more years. Kemp has at least 4 years left under club control.

I just wouldn't do it. I think that Kemp will bring what the Dodgers are looking for. And if he DOES have an attitude problem, there is nobody better than Torre to help straighten it out. And Bowa will reign him in on the bases too. (To tell you the truth, I don't think Kemp has an "attitude problem". I think he had "words" with Jeff Kent and Kent is probably waiting to find out if Kemp will be around before he decides to come back.)

According to Ken Rosenthal at Fox Sports, the hangup on the Miguel Cabrera deal, is on one of the players involved that would be going back to Florida. Anybody want to to take a guess who that player is.

Which player is Ned reluctant to trade, Kemp or Kershaw?

my guess would be Kershaw, since he's been dangling Kemp to just about every team in the league

If Ned can pull off Cabrera for Kemp/LaRoche/lesser prospect than Kershaw, I'm game. Done, done, done.

How much of a problem was he during the Marlins World Series run?

Who's the bigger "somewhat" Kemp or Cabrera?
