How 'bout Mike Scioscia. I know he's had limited experience at Manager but he was our Bench Coach in 97/98 and he's been around our minor league teams for years in a wide variety of different coaching roles. Plus his legacy as a member of the last two Dodger teams to win the World Series gives him at least some bit of credibility with the Dodger fan base.
I know it sounds crazy but why not at least give Scioscia a legitimate shot at the position?
Well, if that's your criterion, I hear Dusty Baker needs a job.Originally Posted by Die Radio Die

Plus I think JBruin and I might go crazy watching another small ball manager.

Trader J (Indy): In your top 100 last year, James Loney was marked as a high "Risk Factor" because of his lack of power. He has been pretty impressive over the past couple months. How does he project now?
SportsNation Jim Callis: Even better now. The assumption is that power will usually be the last tool to develop, but it's risk to bet on it coming around (see Sean Burroughs). Think of Loney as Mark Grace with 20-25 HR power.Mike (Fremont): Dodger youngster with most upside - Kemp, Loney, Billingsley, or LaRoche?
SportsNation Jim Callis: Pure upside? Kemp.Harold, California: Top pitcher in the Minor Leagues next year, Kershaw?
SportsNation Jim Callis: Yes.Zach (San Diego): How do you see Markakis and Kemp progressing over the next few years? Who would you rather have and why?
SportsNation Jim Callis: Both have the tools to be all-stars. I'd take Markakis, just think he's a safer bet. Kemp has more pure upside.Fred (Austin, TX): Will '08 be Billingsley's breakout year?
SportsNation Jim Callis: Yes.Josh (Los Angeles, CA): If you're running the Dodgers, would you A) make a run at Santana with a package of Laroche/Kershaw/Meloan, B) use a similar package to land Miguel Cabrera, or C) go for Arod, should he opt out?
SportsNation Jim Callis: C. Because I could keep all my young talent. Don't see the Dodgers matching his price, though.
As usual, well done ASUcruz. Much appreciated.
It sucks that a great site like DodgerBlues has been hacked.

From the article:
Interesting.Matt Kemp made an impact, too, although not all of it was good. He looked like he needed a GPS the way he sometimes ran the bases, his fundamentals were lacking and his cocky clubhouse attitude put off pretty much every veteran. That said, he has a wealth of tools and he made better adjustments in his swing this year. He figures to be an everyday player in 2008, either for the Dodgers or elsewhere via a trade that could net plenty in return.

Jeff Kent's unhappiness with a variety of issues, voiced when the season unraveled, left his status uncertain, even though his durability and performance triggered a guaranteed $9 million 2008 salary.
