The Dodgers have had crappy luck with 1st round pitchers sustaining serious injuries. Elbert, Miller and Morris have all missed a whole season due to surgery. I pray Kershaw remains healthy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty high on LaRoche, too. I like the kid, and I want him to succeed. I just never saw what I thought was a consistent enough display of power during his minor league stints. He was hitting for contact more than power in Spring Training this past year, too. Maybe Murray had gotten to him, I don't know.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.

    Baseball America

Carlos (LA,CA): JJ, Can the dodgers get some love.... How about there farm system, how does it rank with the other teams? Also who besides Kershaw will be a prospect? Thanks

SportsNation J.J. Cooper: It's not as deep as it was a couple of years ago now that Loney, Billingsley, Broxton et al have made it up, but Chin-Lung Hu, Andy LaRoche, Scott Elbert (after rehabing his arm injury) and sleeper prospect James McDonald mean it's still probably a Top 10 system.
    JAY (LV): Morales or Kershaw?

    SportsNation J.J. Cooper: Kershaw.
    Carlos (LA): Kershaw or Price?

SportsNation J.J. Cooper: Kershaw but it's very close.

Kershaw is going to be a ****ing awesome pitcher. Can't wait for him to be in the bigs.

In the past, I've usually had the opportunity to travel to Jax and see some Suns games. However, this year I didn't. I hope Ned Colletti resists all urges to include Kershaw in any trade. I can't remember a more talked about prospect than Kershaw.

I too, can't wait for him to make it to the bigs.

The Dodgers potentially have a lethal 1-2 punch with Billingsley/Kershaw.

Buster Olney reported on Steven A Smith Show (ESPN, AM 710) that the Dodgers have offered Joe Girardi the managerial position of the team. I caught the last bit of it so I heard something along the lines of:
Joe's thinking about it, the offer has been extended and the Yankees are expected to make their decision in the next 24 hours.

I don't know if Joe's waiting for the Yanks or if the Yanks are waiting for Joe.

Maybe ASU can get something on ESPN Insider.

I just read it on ESPN. It sounds like pure speculation fueled by Girardi's agent saying he wouldn't comment on anything about the Dodgers.

I honestly can't see it happening.

I think they're just trying to put a fire under the Spankee's asses to get Girardi hired. Who knows. I'd take Girardi over Little in a heartbeat! Hell, I'd take Mattingly over Little...

...and just to add to the offseason wish list, I wouldn't mind trying to get Torii Hunter, trading Ethier and LaRoche to Florida for Miguel Cabrera, and moving Pierre to left. This of course would be assuming Kent doesn't come back and we can put Nomar at second for next season...
