So, do they go after Mike Lowell or is 3B LaRoche's to lose?

    pAyRod, mothersuckas.

Seriously, you chose 3B as a startoff topic? Over that bigtime GAP in CF?

Seeing as how we're stuck with Pierre I don't think there is an answer for the CF problem.

3B on the other hand, is a position we can fill internally or in free agency.

On the topic of A-Rod does he hate NY that much? They can pay him the most money. I honestly don't seem him leaving.

Came across this thing in an SI story.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...s.scoop/1.html

Let's all hope this rumor is false.

    Is Dusty in Dodger forecast?

While people close to the Dodgers say they believe manager Grady Little is still safe, a couple also say that Little will enter next season in a tenuous position, and that they could envision Dusty Baker as an eventual replacement. Baker recently came to Dodger Stadium to throw out a first pitch, along with ex-Dodger teammates Steve Garvey and Ron Cey, and word is getting around that Baker is considered a possible replacement for Little.

The Dodgers' clubhouse was nothing short of a disaster this year, with Jeff Kent, Luis Gonzalez and other veterans pitted against the kids, notably Matt Kemp and James Loney. The veterans believe that the kids didn't show them the proper respect, and there's probably some truth to that. But Kent was wrong to air the dirty laundry in the first place, and he's generally no treat to be around. As for Gonzalez, he blamed bad communication for the team's bad season, seeming to point a finger at the decisionmakers, Little included.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. The kids probably do need to mature in some cases. But a couple of the veterans were also on the selfish side. That's a recipe for dissension.

Dump him off on KC and pay half of his salary? ****, I wish.

3B on the other hand, is a position we can fill internally or in free agency.
Is LaRoche really the answer? He is the top prospect I have the least faith in. Abreu? Well he might be at 2B if Kent decides to retire.

You're probably right. I think he opts out of his contract for sure. How many teams can really afford him that have a spot at 3B? Yanks, Dodgers, Angels, Chi Sox, Red Sox. Edge has to go to NY. I could see A-rod in Anaheim before LA as well. Maybe even Boston. Possibly even the Cubs as a SS before LA.

Lowell is the only other decent 3B free agent out there. If Boston doesn't get A-rod they'll probably try hard to retain him. That leaves a trade, prospect, or somebody like Pedro Feliz (and I wouldn't be shocked).

I'm pretty high on LaRoche. I guess you could say that odds are one of our prospects should crash and burn since we've had so many successes, but other than his back troubles I don't really see any knocks on LaRoche. He just needs a chance.

As far as Abreu goes, I'm not that high on him, especially at 3B. His bat makes more sense at 2nd than at 3rd.

Oh he's definitely opting out. He would be a fool not too. I just don't think he'll leave NY. They can him the most and the Yankees give him the best chance at a World Series. He gets bad press but obviously that doesn't affect him. He had what like 150 RBI's this year?

    .

Yea, Lowell was real productive for Boston this year. I'm not sure what their alternatives they have as far as prospects go but I don't see why they wouldn't bring back Lowell, even overpaying for him.

For us, I think it's pretty clear, it'll be Nomar or LaRoche. And I bet Nomar gets the job, sucks for 2 months before they decide to bench him and LaRoche comes up and tears it up.

Seems to me we have plenty of guys to compete for most of the positions already, we could probably use most of our money for pitching. Hopefully Schmidt comes back healthy but we still need another starter and help in the bullpen.

We're not getting ARod, it just won't happen. Even if he opts out the Yankees will keep him. I know there will be a million people saying get him, but it's not going to happen. The Rangers are paying a good chunk of the current deal, so the Yanks could cut a deal with him not to opt out and still get him more money if that's what he wants. After the finish he's had, there is no more hate with ARod and New York. If he goes bad in the playoffs there's a slight chance, but I don't see it happening.

What's Orel doing besides ESPN? Does Girardi want a job? What about Kevin Kennedy? ****, I'll take Jeanne Zelasko before I think of Dusty Baker.

My brother and I have been saying this for a while now. I'd love to see Kevin Kennedy manage the Dodgers. That guy is Blue in & out and knows the game extremely well.

Little is staying so there's no reason to worry about it. Of the guys out there, I'd take my chances with Joe Girardi but it's a moot point.
