    Good job, Ned!

You've got to think now that one of our young outfielders would be seriously shopped for high-level starting pitching. Personally, I'd rather give Whapee the boot (I mean that'd be a SICK outfield of Kemp, Jones, and Ethier) than lose a good power-hitting youngster, but I guess we'll see what happens.

I'll bet within a couple days we finally get a decision from Jeff Kent as well.

Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.

GREAT addition to the Dodgers !

I don't have anything against Pierre, but I definitely don't want to see Ethier or Kemp traded.

    .222 Avg
    .311 OBA
    .413 SLG
    138 STRIKEOUTS in 2007!!!

So those number equate to spending 18 mil a year? Holy SH**!!

His defense/arm in CF will be a welcome sight at Dodger stadium, but I hope the Dodgers aren't looking for more than 25 HR, 85 RBI from this guy.

Personally, I'd rather they sign Rowand for less money.

"The Gold Glove center fielder and the Dodgers reached a preliminary agreement Wednesday night on a $36.2 million, two-year contract that gives him the fifth-highest average salary in the major leagues."

What a joke. Following the Angels plan of overpaying for centerfielders on the downside of their career two years in a row might not be the best plan of attack.

Andrew might be off the roids...HR numbers last three seasons.

    05'-51 HR
    06'-41 HR
    07'-26 HR
    08'-????- playing 81 games in a pitchers' park. 20-25 HR? + 125 Ks

I know the majority of you are excited about Andruw coming to the Dodgers, but he could be a huge black hole in the middle of the lineup due to propensity to strikeout.

Andruw's career average is .233 at Dodger Stadium.

I'm sure some of you are going to say it's not all about the stats, and that's true. But stats do tell you a lot about a player...Especially in the sport of baseball.

Andruw might be one of the top 5 defensive CF of all time, and that's a huge upgrade over Pierre, I just don't think we're going to see that much offense from him. As a loyal Dodger fan, I hope he proves me. wrong.

Maybe you didn't notice his numbers in years prior?

It's called taking a risk with a tremendous amount of upside. It's not like Ned just signed a CF with no arm and no pop for 5 years...

Actually, Dodger stadium was more of a hitters park last year than Turner field was.

And to your point of lifetime average at Dodger stadium, wasn't Furcal's average in the toilet prior at Dodger Stadium prior to coming to the Dodgers? How did that turn out?

You bring up past numbers in your post below but then you advocate signing Aaron Rowand? Take a look at his previous seasons, absolute crap compared to this last one.

Downside of his career? He's 30 years old. He played through a shoulder injury last season which is an absolute killer for home run hitters especially. The Juan Pierre signing last year was a joke and a HUGE overpayment. The Jones signing is much more of a medium risk with high reward potential.
