You are right....Fox is doing the same thing the McCourt's are now doing. It's more about making money (extravagant amounts) and inflating their enormous ego. They made a ton of free money with the Manny trade. They made a ton of money with the Manny memorobilia. They made a ton of money going to the 1st round of the playoffs and then the NL Championship. The McCourt's crave attention. The McCourts are purposely doing themselves so they are not the "scapegoat" when they dont make any really improvements to their team. You know that and I know that.

I agree with most of this.

Manny isn't worth what he's asking. He doesn't deserve four years at $25-30M/yr for ages 37-40. If that means the Dodgers have to cut bait, too bad.

First move? Dump Flanders, hire a GM with a brain (meaning don't ask for Plaschke's approval), and maybe the Dodgers would have more money to play with that isn't being spent on total garbage.

The youth fields are a non sequitur. That said, the payroll was at $120M last year, so clearly the problem isn't funding.
