It's official; Joe Torre is mentally retarded.

You mean our best outfield isnt Pierre, Jones and Ethier?
Why are there so many stupid people in baseball? It doesn't seem like it's that way in other sports.
I mean...not to call Joe Torre "stupid" or anything...but we're talking about a guy who has been getting on base at a .294 clip while batting lead off.
MAYBE...he meant that he "knows" how to bat lead off. He's just not able to do it.
Probably not.
I'll file this one under the "no ****in way" category:
The Tampa Bay Rays are looking at a possible trade for Dodgers 2B Jeff Kent, according to American League sources. The Dodgers have had scouts in Tampa the past few days checking out SS Ben Zobrist who is expendable for the Rays. Kent had 10 HR’s and 43 RBI’s for the Dodgers, entering play last night.

Ned wouldn't do it for veteran love/no viable replacement at 2B alone. Also, Zobrist is ****ing atrocious. Also, doesn't Kent have a no trade clause?
We should probably be satisfied with a .500 road trip considering how close they were to going 0-6.
Game 1: Needed a great play by DeWitt at third to send it to extra innings.
Game 2: Loss. Was only close because Lyons sucks.
Game 3. Needed a 5 run rally in the 9th against Lyons including a bobbled double play to win.
Game 4. If anybody not named Kip Wells starts the Rockies roll.
Game 5. Loss, not close.
Game 6. Loss.
Juan Pierre tonight in Vegas

Doug (NY): Local paper has the Dodgers interested in Cano and offering Kemp + Lowe. Yanks are seeking top of rotation starter (Billingsley, Kershaw) instead. Thoughts?
SportsNation Keith law: (2:06 PM ET ) There is no way I'd deal Billingsley or Kershaw for Cano. That's one of those "does this sound like a phone hanging up?" moments.
I honestly think this was the plan for Kershaw but a couple injuries changed things. He's too good for AA and had to go somewhere. Dodgers are hesitant to put young prospects in Vegas so he ended up starting.Quote:
Justin (LA): Should the Dodgers be using the Billingsley model on Kershaw (stick him in the pen) to break him into the league? Granted, they started Bills as an SP when they brought him up in '06, but moving him to the pen to begin last season seemed to be quite effective.
SportsNation Keith law: (2:17 PM ET ) Yes. I think every team should handle its young SP like that when circumstances allow it. It's the Earl Weaver Way.
