Exactly. Ricciardi is smarter than that and also won't be taking a big contract back.

if we intend on keeping the kid on the major league roster, then i don't see us being able to get Halladay. the prospects we have aren't as highly regarded as the class before....well, right now.
Yep. Halladay will most likely require one or more of the "young core" guys. Kershaw being the most likely candidate.
Gotta agree with Bruin, no f'n way I'd give up Kershaw. What's the point of that? Still leaves us a starter short. Of any of the core players, I'd rather give up Martin. I wouldn't like it. But I'd do it. Only because Halladay would put us over the top.
There's no way we're getting Halladay unless one of Kershaw, Billingsley, or Kemp is involved
Let some other team overpay
If it's a straight up deal and we get an extension done, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I love Kershaw, but it's Roy ****ing Halladay.
But it won't be that easy, and that's why I'm skeptical of the price tag.
At this point I, and I hope the Dodgers, value Martin probably much more than he's worth on the trade market considering how poorly he's been playing this season. A catcher who even in his worst year offensively puts up a .373 OBP is hard to come by.
I'd love to see this guy be our catcher for another 6-8 years provided that the last three months are an aberration.
I didn't want to mention this is the Kings forum because baseball tends to get a negative reaction there. I I was watching the True LA marathon last night and does anyone get the feeling the Kings are in the position the Dodgers were in about 2 seasons ago?
