    Andre with his 19th...a solo.

    7-3 Dodgers.

Schmidt stands to win it as of right now. I watched him pretty closely, and while he was somewhat wild on a couple of occasions, he seemed to be regularly hitting his spots. Velocity was kark, of course. Still, who knows? This guy might still work out okay in sort of a Greg Maddux kind of way!

Not gonna hold my breath, though.

Yeah, since I'm not really counting on him, anything we get from him is gravy. I hope he gets the win, that way we aren't paying 47 million per win but a more manageable 23.5 million per win.

It will work if he's able to continue to throw 65MPH breaking balls for strikes. If.

His fastball did top out around 86. They were saying the gun at Dodger Stadium is about 2MPH faster than it should read, so it was probably closer to 84. Most of the time his fastballs were in the 78-82 range, and there may have been only two or three pitches all evening that batters swung on and missed. Almost every pitch was either fouled off or put in play. A dangerous way to live as a starting pitcher, but others have been successful doing it, so who knows.

His post game interview was a hoot. At least he has a good sense of humor about his loss of power. He said he had more in the tank but control is a problem for him right now with anything much faster than he was throwing. if he really unloaded on a fastball he may wind up hitting Scully in the press box.

It'll be a pretty remarkable story if he's able to have long term success after that kind of rehab. We'll see. Maybe Schmidt will be our October surprise.

I've heard this mentioned numerous times over the past few seasons... Is there a reason for it to give high readings? Doesn't seem like it'd be a costly adjustment to get it to read accurately.

Remember in October it's a 3 man rotation. Schmidt would be coming out of the bullpen in the playoffs

I would think Billingsley, Kershaw, Kuroda, and Wolf would all get the nod before him
