We traded Claudio Vargas to the Brewers for minor league catcher Vinny Rottino
The Associated Press: Dodgers trade RHP Vargas to Brewers
Not sure what to make of this move
I just heard them discuss this deal on the MLB Network, the Dodgers writer they interviewed said the following about the deal:
The addition of Sherrill meant they don't have room on the roster for Vargas, especially with Wade and Belisario coming back sometime soon
The Dodgers wanted to reward Vargas for the work he put in returning from injury, so they dealt him to a contender that could use him more then they could
Torre badly wants a veteran starter to be added
Colletti may be looking to add a starter in August, as most players will make it through waivers due to the economy
The Dodgers say they are out of the Halladay bidding, but could pull a "Manny" like last year and make a surprise last second addition
With 1 hour and 40 minutes to go, I want to get on record that I'm ok with any deal for Halladay that doesn't involve Billingsley or Kershaw.
If the price is Lindblom, DeWitt, McDonald, and Elbert? I say do it. If it's those 4 and another prospect? Do it!

Angels, Dodgers in battle for Padres closer Heath Bell | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles TimesThe Angels and Dodgers are engaged in trade talks this morning for Heath Bell, the San Diego Padres' All-Star closer.
I don't even want to know how much Ned is trying to over pay for this guy.
I guess if the rotation remains the same, we'll need plenty of relievers since they'll be coming in during the 3rd or 4th inning every 5th day!
I'd be okay with Bell ONLY ON THE CONDITION that we acquire Eckstein, too.
Eckstein, Bell, Pierre, Blake, Loretta... that's gamerific.
