Kemp suspended 4 games.
He should appeal. Hopefully Raffi would be back by then.
LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp was suspended four games and fined an undisclosed sum on Thursday for his role in an on-field fight in Tuesday night's game with Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba, who was suspended three games and also fined.
Kemp was disciplined for "fighting and inciting the on-field incident," according to a statement from Bob Watson, MLB's vice president for on-field operations. Torrealba was disciplined for "fighting."
Kemp's suspension would go into effect for Thursday night's game with the Cubs, unless it is appealed, which is expected in hopes of having the suspension reduced.
The incident occurred when Kemp struck out on a pitch in the dirt at the end of the bottom of the eighth inning. Moving to retrieve the loose ball, Torrealba collided with Kemp. In the process, Torrealba moved Kemp aside with his glove. Kemp shoved Torrealba in the torso, and the catcher responded by shoving the ball into Kemp's neck.
That's a tad excessive. I can understand one game. But FOUR?
I was at the game--it certainly was the only bright spot of the night.
Well, that and the Latinos in the loge above us chanting "culero" at David Cook.
Lets go Chad!
I wonder if this team will ever get it together
Looks like Kemp is going to appeal his suspension.
