Juan Pierre is approaching a .290 batting average.
And 40 stolen bases.
And 20 walks!
Nasty.
Terrible.
Whatever.

Moyer is a 44 year old stiff who should be retired. He has another year on his contract at 6.5 mil. Guess teams are so lacking in left handed starting pitchers that he is still employed.
So last night on SportsCenter they are talking the 'trade that has to be made is' the Dodgers to get Jermaine Dye. Sorry if it costs either Kemp or Loney I don't need Jermaine. I so hope they don't trade any of their young talent right now, especially Kemp, Loney or Broxton.
Pitching or Batting?
I have a sneaky suspicion someone might get moved, as well. But if anything, I think it's to add an arm and not a bat.
I really love the overall balance of the lineup, too.
The two rabbits up front are beginning to click. It's a good feeling to see both within 90 feet of eachother running home to score after Martin hits a shot in the outfield. It helps when they're doing that early in the game. We're starting to set the tone early and often. Then, you got Martin, who has played MVP calliber baseball all year. Then, you got Kent, who has played great recently. Then, the kids.
Loney and Ethier are somewhat similar. Ethier's got a beautiful swing. Loney knows how to find holes. Kemp, well let's face it, the kid is untouchable, as far as going anywhere.
I think if anyone goes, it might be Betemit. Ned said himself that the most inquiries he's received from other teams regarding trade talks is for Betemit. Though, I'd hate to give up on the kid, it sure would be nice to get something to put us over the hump.
As big a fan I am of Nomar, his slump is what's killing any possible offensive moves we can make. I doubt Colletti would trade him knowing what he means to the fanbase, especially given Nomar's resume. Here's to hoping Nomar can start swinging the bat better as we inch closer to fallball.

Dodgers in the hunt for Dotel?
http://msn.foxsports.com/rumors/mlbDodgers showing interest in KC's Dotel
It appears the Los Angeles Dodgers have emerged as the most serious party yet in the Royals' effort to seek an impact return by offering veteran closer Octavio Dotel before the July 31 nonwaiver trading deadline. The Dodgers are looking to bolster an already strong bullpen and, presumably, would use Dotel as a setup reliever for All-Star closer Takashi Saito. Dotel, 33, would also provide the Dodgers with a veteran backup for Saito, who has blown his last two save opportunities after converting 23 of his first 24. Multiple sources confirm the Dodgers' interest in Dotel, but they are balking at the Royals' initial asking price — believed to be a young, established position player such as outfielder Matt Kemp or first baseman James Loney. The Dodgers are unlikely to part with either for a short-term rental like Dotel, who can become a free agent after the season. It is because of his pending free-agency that the Royals are seeking to trade him to one of several contenders seeking bullpen help. -- KC Star
I think Nomar's beginning to show signs of coming out. He had a good night last night, and his home BA is freakin' .335 for chrissake. His away BA is what's killing him. But even away from home, he hits .317 with RISP. The guy is contributing. He's just not contributing the way he did last year.
Yet.
I can understand what I think is going on. Its been widely speculated that he sucks away from home because he's away from his family. As a guy who spends lots of time away from mine, I can relate to the emotional stresses that could be putting on him. If we make the playoffs, he needs to bring the family with him, no matter what the cost.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.
I can't imagine Colletti trading away any of our young starters i.e. Loney, Kemp, or Ethier for a half season rental.
Colletti will do what's right for this club. I have complete faith in him, not something I had with DePo...

If Delwyn Young is not in the Dodgers' plans, will they trade him?
-- Danny S., Chicago
If he's lucky.
Anybody in his third season at Triple-A clearly is not in the plans. Not that he hasn't deserved a chance, because he's hit throughout his Minor League career and has been tearing it up this year. He's also turned himself into a respectable defensive outfielder, capable of spectacular leaping catches at the wall. But with Juan Pierre signed for five years, Andre Ethier in his second season and Matt Kemp apparently locked in for the long-term, at best Young would be a switch-hitting utility-type extra outfielder for the Dodgers. He needs a change of scenery and an organization willing to give him Major League at-bats. If he's lucky, he'll get the kind of chance the Marlins have given former Dodgers Minor Leaguer Cody Ross.
