According to Tony Jackson:
Confirmed here. The Mets purchased the contract of Marlon Anderson from their Triple-A New Orleans affiliate for tonight's game. They signed him to a minor-league deal shortly after the Dodgers released him last Wednesday. Good news for a really good guy. It was probably the right move for the Dodgers to let him go, but he'll be missed in their clubhouse.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.
I'm OK with the way the OF is being handled right now. I think Ethier and Kemp should be getting at-bats, but it's not necessarily a bad thing that they aren't playing every single day. Kemp still has holes in his swing, and limiting his exposure a bit during a pennant run while he's this young is a smart move. They're using him in situations and matchups where he can excel, and he's gaining a lot of confidence because of that. He'll be a full-timer soon enough (i.e. 2008), but for now I think he's being used just right.
Pierre obviously has some drawbacks , but the lineup works pretty well with him batting second. And his base-stealing ability will be even more valuable down the stretch, and hopefully in the playoffs.
Good to know. We'll always remember him as #4 of the back-to-back-to-back-to-back club.Originally Posted by FlyBoeingJets
I actually completely agree with you on how they've handled Kemp, but most of my comments are in context of the current roster.Originally Posted by Frolov24
If we had signed a guy like Lofton for a year just to keep CF warm for Kemp, that's fine. That's why I liked the Gonzo signing from the get-go--because he was a very intelligent, relatively inexpensive short-term solution. But to think Pierre will be playing every day for us and eating a sizable payroll chunk until the end of 2011 (especially considering his speed is a depreciating asset at this point in his career) is a bit unsettling.
If by 16th in MLB in runs you mean "alright", then fine. I expect more out of a $110+ million payroll's offense.Originally Posted by Frolov24

6-0. Lol, serious? I turn on the TV at 7:30 and the game is over. Sweet. At least I didn't buy tickets to the game.
