Saw that... It feels like this team is falling apart.

Good point. We needed a break now, let Saito get another day off, Martin get some rest without missing a game. Any time we skip a game at Coors with Tomko pitching is a good thing, I think.

Seriously, guys. If we've lost two starting pitchers, I'd rather see Ned keep the youth of this club intact and bring up some minor league talent for a couple of starts (or work in the pen if Tomko and Hendrickson can suddenly become consistent) than trade the young for rental players in order to make the playoffs.

This just may not be "the year." No sense selling the future short in order to try and make it become "the year."

I hope Ned keeps a level head through all this.

I agree, because you never know what happens. Last year Jeff Weaver got hot and an 83-win team won the World Series. We didn't develop all these guys and wait for them all this time just to rent a pitcher for two months.

I never suggested trading for a quick fix; all I said was that it's not looking good for Lowe and Wolf at this point.

I never suggested you'd suggested that. Those thoughts were my own, stemming from the injury situation.

And I never suggested that Hideo Nomo's delivery was homosexually suggestive, but the suggestive subtext in The Sound and the Fury suggests that William Faulkner is suggesting that the south is stuck in a state of arrested development.

Lowe does not have a strained groin, but, according to a club official, he has "irritation in the left hip," and that's never good for a pitcher. In fact, that was the original diagnosis for pitchers Jason Isringhausen of the Cardinals last year and Justin Duchscherer of the Oakland A's this year, and both ultimately required arthroscopic hip surgery.
    We're ****ed.
