But the early signs are encouraging for Martin, who is listed as day to day.

Trainer Stan Conte said the ligament wasn't swollen and Martin said he was able to squat on Wednesday, adding that he had a full range of motion.

"If I can go, I can go," Martin said. "We'll see tomorrow."

Martin's condition could be critical to a team that finds itself four games back of Arizona in the National League West and three games back of San Diego for the wild card.

Yeah, because games never go extra innings. And that example was just for an injured, can't-run Nomar, as to why he would be on the 40-man roster. It could be an 11 inning game, whatever. As he recovers there are more situations where you could use him. Pretty easy example to understand, and you've still given me no reason why he shouldn't be on a 40-man roster.

No ax to grind. Nomore should be a pretty self explanatory nickname. Nomas would be the Spanish version of it. You can figure out the Italian translation.
All of it is stupid and takes away from whatever point you're trying to make, which you still haven't made.

Delusions of grandeur? Dude, they have carried this team all year. I know you love Pierre, Gonzo, and Nomar but they aren't very good. I would rather have young guys who have produced play and **** up then let vets play who have ****ed up all year.
Those aren't the guys we're talking about. I'm talking about why you would PH Nomar in a big spot instead of a call-up who hasn't been in the majors all year, or Abreu, or one of those guys you mentioned earlier. The good young guys are already in the lineup--Kemp, Ethier, Martin and Loney--so they of course are not who I'm referring to in that situation.

I think it's time this thread adopted an all-Dodger avatar policy for the stretch run.

Yeah. Alright. Oreno chinko swe, then.
Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.

I'm already in. Coolest bunt single by a 44-year-old in the history of time.

Looks almost like the close-up I took in Philly.

They do. How often do they go so deep into a game that a manager would have used up every position player on a 40 man roster?

And that example was just for an injured, can't-run Nomar...
Which is what we are talking about.

It could be an 11 inning game, whatever.
No, it couldn't. Nomar isn't going to be the last option (which is what you are arguing for) in an 11 inning game.

As he recovers there are more situations where you could use him.
Hey, somebody is finally catching on. As I said before, when Nomar is healthy he should be activated and used.

    Pretty easy example to understand,
I know, I gave it to you.

and you've still given me no reason why he shouldn't be on a 40-man roster.
I have, multiple times, and you're just not catching on. No need to repeat myself anymore.

All of it is stupid and takes away from whatever point you're trying to make, which you still haven't made.
Nicknames are stupid? Heh, I find them funny. Nomore, Juan-for-5, Bombko, Lurch. Well I'm sure you always call people by their proper name. All Italians do, right?

Those aren't the guys we're talking about. I'm talking about why you would PH Nomar in a big spot instead of a call-up who hasn't been in the majors all year, or Abreu, or one of those guys you mentioned earlier. The good young guys are already in the lineup--Kemp, Ethier, Martin and Loney--so they of course are not who I'm referring to in that situation.
Young, Abreu, LaRoche all have been in the majors before and they can actually run out a double or infield single. Nomar can be an asset to this team coming off the bench...when he is healthy. Right now, he isn't.
