what do you guys think about the Dodgers resigning Furcal? Seems like he wants to stay here and unless Chin Lung Hu is ready next season i believe the Dodger should really consider doing it. Not sure if you wait or not until the end of the season as the price could go up if he does well. Seems like he's healthy, dang i can't wait for the season to start...only a few more days until the first spring training game and as long as Jason Repko is playing with the B team i believe we'll have healthy starters playing the field this season unlike the last few years.

Hu made some strides last season and I'm pretty excited about his future. By all accounts the guy is just a magician with the glove, and I think another season in the minors will due him good.

As far as Furcal, I find it hard to believe that he WON'T test the market. After all that's one of the main reasons he signed with us, big dollars but also short term. It really was a great deal for Furcal, he got a lot of cash and he'll be a FA while still in the prime of his career.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Furcal, but I wouldn't want to give him a long term type deal because he'll be blocking u. Hu could probably switch to 2nd for awhile, but to get the best value out of his game you'll want him at SS.

Is Furcal really worth $13mil again? Definitely not if he puts up the same numbers he did last year.

Furcal was NEVER worth 13 million a year. Not saying I don't like him but just not at 13 mil a year. I hope the Dodgers draft a stud college short stop in this year's first round.

I never had a problem with the big cash for Furcal because he was signed to a short term deal(3 years). We weren't/aren't locked into him for a lot of years, I thought it was a solid move, especially considering our lack of a SS/Leadoff hitter at the time. Izturis could pick it with the best, just couldn't hit.

I guess anything is possible but don't hold your breath! Logan White's MO, really the Dodgers MO has always been to draft big power arms out of HS. The last position player we drafted was Loney, and even he was considered more of a pitching prospect that hitting prospect by most teams.

Not to mention Hu is on the horizon and Ivan Dejesus Jr. seems to be a promising prospect.

I bet when the draft comes around, we draft another HS pitcher with a big arm.

I doubt that'll happen, history tells us we'll draft another HS pitcher...and so far it has worked out well(minus Hochevar).

edit: ASU stole my post, errr.

This is the guy i'm targeting, local HS pitcher...hopefully he can drop a few picks.

    11. Gerrit Cole, rhp, Lutheran HS, Orange, Calif.
"He may show the best fastball this spring, college or high school," says one front-office executive.

Also, Hochevar was a college pitcher, when we drafted him with our 1st round supplemental pick(we drafted him as a high schooler before but that was way later in the draft). And by all reports Hochevar was Depodesa's call.

Repko is about to become a Papa
Jason Repko is leaving camp tonight to fly home to Richland, Wash., where his wife, Traci, is scheduled for induced labor tomorrow. This is the couple's first child, a boy, and they plan to name him Tyler Jason Repko. Best of luck to all. As many of us already know, and as Jason and Traci will soon find out, becoming a parent is the single greatest experience life has to offer

Hope we don't regret letting him walk.
