I'm regretting the fact that we passed on Clay Buchholz. Logan White wanted to draft him.

I wish the Dodgers would have drafted Todd Frazier out of Rutgers last year instead of Chris Withrow. Frazier is a 6'3" SS who hits with power and for avg. Not to mention from what I've heard, a very good glove. These are the types of college SS I want to Dodgers to draft.

Hu is good but doesn't get me excited. Same with DeJesus and same with Jaime Pedroza (though he does have good bloodlines).

Considering Hochevar went #1 overall the following year, I really don't think it was a mistake at least on talent.

Yeah, but I'll just keep dreaming.

I'm more disappointed about not signing David Price when we drafted him out of HS.

Eh, White has had success with HS Power Arms in the past, so I'm fine with Winthrow. Far too early to be judging this past year's draft anyways.

Not sure why Hu doens't get you excited, you seem to value defense, he probably has the best glove in the entire organization. His bat seems live, I think power is still a ? I don't think his plate discipline is THAT great, but he's a promising player. What's not to like.

    Here's something I saw on Frazier's defense.

Frazier has a fundamentally sound game. He gets in good fielding position, but his footwork is suspect. He lacks first step quickness, so his range is below average at short. He's a big guy who just doesn't move all that well at shortstop. His arm strength is above average and he has good accuracy. However, his skills and defensive abilities profile well at the hot corner. The Reds are likely to move him to third sooner rather than later.

    Some BA chat stuff

Odie (Portland): Fill in the blanks: by the end of the season, Chris Withrow is probably a top __ prospect, but if things go really well, he might be a top __.

    SportsNation Jim Callis: 100, 50.
Josh (Lawrence, KS): Over the next 6 years: Billingsley/Kershaw --or-- Any other SP duo.

SportsNation Jim Callis: Off the top of my head, I'd take Beckett/Buchholz.
    For Claw21

Derek (wisconsin): Best SS prospect in the NL Central? Kozma?

SportsNation Jim Callis: Good question . . . Yes, Pete Kozma (Cardinals) would be the pick for me. I'm not a huge Alcides Escobar (Brewers) fan, and Todd Frazier (Reds) will move off short at some point.

I don't have a problem with Winthrow. If the Dodgers are going to draft a power pitcher in the 1st round I'd rather it be a high schooler. That way we know some college coach didn't overuse him. So I'm completely fine with him. As for Frazier, I liked the fact he was a SS who hit for power. (that's the type of SS I'd pay for)

I guess we'll see how it goes with Hu. Hopefully we'll see some power.

As for Pedroza (who I really like), I can see him at 2B in the future.

When did we draft him? Can you imagine Price and Kershaw in the starting rotation? And if we would have signed Hochevar. The Dodgers need to spend more on the draft.
