A buddy of mine just said he'd heard from his friend that the MAJORITY of kids of players taking PEDs end up having a noticable, if not debilitating disability.
Apparently, he didn't test positive for it but they found that his testosterone level was elevated. When they started to look into why that was the case, they saw documents saying that he had taken it in the past and because of that, MLB suspended him.
The story I read said he tested positive for it in spring training and was recently retested and failed.
They had the guy who wrote Game of Shadows on 710am earlier and he said what Manny was caught taking is commonly used as a masking agent and also used after a steroid cycle to get the testosterone flowing again
Great book! I recommend it for those that want to wade into the deep end of performance enhancing drugs in sports. It really hammers on Barry Bonds (deservingly, in my opinion), Marion Jones, Gary Sheffield and other track and baseball players.
