The face-to-face meeting took place early this morning -- VERY early, apparently. There is now an agreement in principle on a two-year, $45 million contract, with the final hurdle of Manny passing a physical exam. Once that happens, he'll sign the contract and report to spring training, guessing he'll be here tomorrow morning. Ned Colletti and Joe Torre, who went to Los Angeles for the meeting with Manny and McCourt, are on their way back here to Glendale now.

The Dodgers have agreed in principal on a two-year, $45 million deal to re-sign free agent left fielder Manny Ramirez, a baseball source told MLB.com on Wednesday morning

    I'd consider it official

And obviously a scapegoat as well. He's played exactly the way he's played before he was signed to the Dodgers. He was terribly overpayed but not a terrible player.

He's not a scapegoat--he's just a glaring example of overspending on mediocre veterans taking the lineup spots of better, younger, cheaper players and taking money that could be spent on useful players. He sucked before he was a Dodger and he sucks now.

    Anyway, deal is done.

Signing Manny is great for the team, but I'm afraid the pitching staff will be this teams' achillies heal throughout the season. The Dodgers better score lots of runs!
