Royals close to signing Jose Guillen.
Oy, if the Red Sox can get Johan without giving up Ellsbury or Buchholz.....
Might just be me, but I haven't heard Brian Cashman's name in a month. Wasn't part of him coming back as Yankees GM on the condition that he wouldn't have Steinbrenner or others meddling with his job?
Sounds like the mention of Bucholz is a deal breaker. Haven't heard him in any trade talks.
I still don't understand why they wouldn't do Lester, Ellsbury, and this Lowrie prospec for Santana. Yea, Ellsbury looked great in the playoffs but having Beckett-Santana-Schilling-Dice K-Bucholz, seems pretty dominating.

• The Twins and Red Sox are supposed to meet this afternoon to continue discussions on the Johan Santana deal. Sources indicate the Twins are still trying to decide between a 3-for-1 trade for center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, infielder Jed Lowrie and pitching prospect Justin Masterson and a 4-for-1 swap that substitutes lefty starter Jon Lester and center fielder Coco Crisp for Ellsbury.
