    4:25, from Keith Law
    • The Rays have traded Elijah Dukes to the Nationals for a player to be named.
Him and Lastings will terrorize downtown DC.

Oy, if the Red Sox can get Johan without giving up Ellsbury or Buchholz.....

Might just be me, but I haven't heard Brian Cashman's name in a month. Wasn't part of him coming back as Yankees GM on the condition that he wouldn't have Steinbrenner or others meddling with his job?

Sounds like the mention of Bucholz is a deal breaker. Haven't heard him in any trade talks.

I still don't understand why they wouldn't do Lester, Ellsbury, and this Lowrie prospec for Santana. Yea, Ellsbury looked great in the playoffs but having Beckett-Santana-Schilling-Dice K-Bucholz, seems pretty dominating.

    12:50 p.m., from Peter Gammons
    • The Twins and Red Sox are supposed to meet this afternoon to continue discussions on the Johan Santana deal. Sources indicate the Twins are still trying to decide between a 3-for-1 trade for center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, infielder Jed Lowrie and pitching prospect Justin Masterson and a 4-for-1 swap that substitutes lefty starter Jon Lester and center fielder Coco Crisp for Ellsbury.

Major prospects going the other way if that trade goes down. Cameron Maybin and Andrew Miller are uber prospects, if the Marlins get those 2 in any package they did very well.
