Bay to the Tribe?
Pittsburgh Pos Gazette
In a surprising twist, the Pirates and Cleveland Indians revived talks at the Opryland Hotel late last night and developed a framework for a five-player trade, Bay and catcher Ronny Paulino going to Cleveland for outfielder Franklin Gutierrez, catcher Kelly Shoppach and either starter Cliff Lee or a minor-league pitching prospect.
I wonder if Dontrelle will DH any games.
Well he wouldn't be a DH, they would just let the pitcher hit. And no I don't think that'll happen, only because when they bring him out, won't the RP have to hit as well? One of the big things in the AL is you don't have to worry about the pitcher in the batting order when you have to make a switch. Leyland would just be putting himself at a disadvantage. I don't think Dontrelle's hitting ability is enough counter that disadvantage. Especially when your DH is Gary Sheffield.
Rios and Lincecum might switch places
From the MLB Blog:
I couldn't help but devilishly laugh inside. I must admit I felt a bit guilty for laughing but that's just funny. Poor Mark.Reds considering Mark Prior
Cincinnati's search for arms has the club taking a hard look at Cubs right-hander Mark Prior.
Prior, coming off right shoulder surgery, won't be able to pitch before May at the earliest, and perhaps not until August. But he is expected to pitch in 2008, and the Cubs have until Dec. 12 to offer him arbitration. He would be eligible for free agency after the 2008 season, so it is understandable, considering that and his health issues, that the Cubs might entertain offers for him, especially if they can address a need.
