Dammit, that's one less team that could have taken Pierre...

Not a bad move by the Rangers, especially if Bradley is ready by the time season starts. In a year their CF prospect Julio Borbon might be ready. If he's not they can find another stop gap solution.

Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.

The Brewers were scrambling to get someone to replace Cordero. Let's see how long Gagne can stay healthy. He did a solid job as Texas' closer.

Some NL West stuff to ponder.

Heard last night that the Giants might be the team to give Aaron Rowand the five-year deal he wants, and Andrew Baggarly reports this morning, in a more substantive way, that San Francisco may jump into the Kosuke Fukudome bidding but are more likely to target Rowand. Here's the bottom line for the Giants: Their projected everyday lineup is nothing short of atrocious.
This would certainly fit Sabean's MO of favoring the veteran players over youth. The Giants really should just blow it up and build around Cain, Lowry, and Lincecum. Signing Rowand would just be counter productive and it would help us out a ton. Especially if they give him 5 years!

The D-backs are waiting to hear back from the Athletics about their offer on Dan Haren.
According to the East Valley Tribune, the package for Haren is 3 high level prospects. Carlos Gonzalez, Emilio Bonifacio and Brett Anderson, who are ranked 1st, 3rd, and 6th on BA's top ten prospects for the D-Backs.

This seems like a trade that would work out for both teams. A lot of high level prospects going to the A's but the D-Backs get Haren, and they get him pretty cheap for the next few seasons. Gonzalez is more or less blocked anyways since they re-signed Byrnes and have Young and Upton at Center and Right. Bonifacio is blocked by the O-Dog for now and also Drew if they see him as a SS. Anderson is a pitching prospect but getting Haren back softens that blow.

If the D-Backs make this move, they'll have a formidable rotation.

    Haren
    Webb
    Owings
    Davis
    Johnson(big wild card)

Our's is a bit deeper, but this is still a very good rotation, especially if they get anything out of the Big Unit next year.

Thanks ASU. Some great information here.

The Gagne-Mota late inning connection reunites with the Brewers. Don't think anyone would have predicted that a few years ago.
