Fair assumption, but I do think their ERAs will be lower. It's a solid move by the Padres though, they have 3 more or less sure things in Peavy, Young, and Maddux. It's worth the gamble to take fliers on talented arms like Prior and Wolf.

Well it was either roids or Dusty Baker running Prior out there and having him throw 130 pitches every outing.

A's are just completely giving up on the near future!

How long are the A's gonna rebuild? It seems like just 5 years ago they began a rebuilding process, became competitive, and now are rebuilding again. Too funny.

A lot of these guys they are getting are fairly close to the majors. I'd imagine that Street and maybe Chavez and Harden are next. Let's see what Beane can get for those guys.

Either way, I expect the Angels to have the division locked up by the all star break.

The A's seem to be a breeding ground for young players. They let the prospects develop, and when they're about to hit the market they either let them walk or trade them for more raw prospects, etc. They hardly ever lock anyone up to long term deals (see Tejada, Giambi, Haren, and Zito)
