I don't get this trade at all. Milledge's star might have fallen a bit because of makeup questions but he's clearly the most talented player in this deal.

Yea, the Mets needed a catcher but trading one of their top guy's for a mediocre catcher doesn't make much sense.

Church is a decent player but trading Milledge makes no sense.

Another reason this trade doesn't make sense. If the Mets wanted to move Milledge they should have used him in a deal for something bigger.

That being said, I wouldn't say they are completely out of the race for Santana. They still have Carlos Gomez(although he probably takes on a bigger role with Milledge gone) and Mike Pelfrey. Those two guys are upper tier prospects so that's something they can build around.

yea, Schneider has about $10 million left on his contract and Church is mediocre at best. Is this really the best they could get for Milledge?

The Pirates declined the option on Cesar Izturis. Guess he's gonna wait to see where Jim Tracy ends up, then take his .290 OBP there.
He ended up in St. Louis.

Cabrera trade talks between the Halos and Marlins have stalled - sounds like they want Kendrick, Mathis, and two of Ervin Santana, Joe Saunders, and Nick Adenhart

They may have found the only downgrade from Eckstein on the market.

I don't understand why the Angels don't want to do that deal. Ervin Santana is garbage. He should have been traded a yr ago when he had trade value. Now he's just plain bad. Mathis just finished a year in which he barely hit his weight. Joe Saunders is a #4-5 starter, definately not worth holding onto. Don't know much about Adenhart other than he just completed a very average year. As for Kendrick, the guy is a stud but will NEVER put up Cabrera numbers. He doesn't even have the potential to. And besides, the Angels can easily slide Figgins to second where he's better suited.

I don't know what they are thinking over at the Big A but they better wake up quick and stop over-valuing their prospects.

Wolf signed a one year deal with the Padres

Pretty good move by the Padres. Low risk and when he pitched last year he wasn't bad.

I wasn't a big fan of Wolf. He had about 4 good outings last season and he gave up 4 or more runs in 7 of his 18 starts (the same number of times Penny did that in 33)

after the Yanks said they'd be willing to part ways with Phil Hughes, the Red Sox countered by including Jacoby Ellsbury in their package.
