PHOENIX -- The D-backs are close to completing a deal to acquire right-hander Dan Haren and another player from the A's in exchange for six prospects, MLB.com has learned.
In addition, the D-backs will send closer Jose Valverde to the Astros in exchange for infielder Chris Burke and reliever Chad Qualls.

The Valverde news is good.
Even the six rospects news is good.
But, facing Webb and/or Haren at least every series is scary news.
We lose.
Beane's track record is pretty good, he stole Haren from the Cardinals in the Mulder deal. Since they are gearing up for their new stadium opening in a few years, it's not a bad idea to turn some current assets into potential stars down the road. The way the A's are as a franchise right now, they were gonna have a hard time staying competitive in the AL West.Quote:

Oh, and the Dodgers are screwed. Haren is a ****ing monster. I'm glad to see him leave the AL West.
