WOW I was soo surprised by Brandon Wood's grand slam today. AND I MISSED IT LIVE!!!!
I had my ticket, but I was watching the World Cup matches giving soccer a chance to hook me in.
What do I see?!?! BAD and more BAD calls by the ref, and I'm not going to invent in the sport if the World Cup has this many problems with calls. Both the England and Mexico games which changes the outcome in my eyes.
So, I miss a GREAT Angels game for the bad World Cup games :rain:
I should had been there to support and see my team live. If FiFA really wants the USA to get into soccer, they need to change some things because I won't watch or give a crap if Ref's are allowed to call whatever they want, without being challenged by video replay.
Anyway, that would had been my second live Angels grand slam too :( Makes it hurt even more haha
F(&* the World Cup
Anyway, after a great series with the Rockies, we move on to our AL West rivals...the Texas Rangers on Tuesday!
The last two game series we had was not pretty at all. Being swept hurts, but that was then and not now. I want a different outcome this time at the Big A. I wish I could go to all three games (always love to go to div rival series), but I can't.
I work in Westlake Village, and it's hella far without adding the insane LA traffic to get to Anaheim lol.
I'm looking forward to the challenge the Rangers will bring to the field this week!
Huge series coming up for sure.. and I'm not worried at all. :)
I'm still extremely confident that Texas will fade in July and that won't change until they prove us wrong.
Plus, I checked out their schedule and they played a TON of weak teams. They got to beat up on the weak NL teams like the Marlins, Astros, and Pirates. As for the AL teams, they still have a ton of games remaining again the Red Sox and Yankees. They have already beat up on the Orioles a bunch of times too.
As for the Angels, yeah we had our fair share of wins against the NL against the Cubs, Dodgers, Rockies. But our interleague schedule is definitely harder this year compared to the Rangers. We have already played the Red Sox and Yankees more than the Rangers so far and we have yet to play the Orioles and Indians. :)
Bottom line.. our schedule is extremely favorable going down the stretch because the Rangers have two things to overcome. Their usual freefall in July and beyond.. and a tougher schedule.
Man I'm GLAD you see this too, TooCool! The Rangers have had an easier ride indeed. Look at their interleague line up lol
Look how well the Angels are playing, and we are still not at 100% in terms of our key players. Imagine if we had a healthy Kenry Morales at first base?!?! Sigh, he was and still is a big lose for the team.
I wish the series with Texas started today, but what can you do haha. We need to day off after the long road trips and gives our BP a chance to rest up some too.
TooCool, tomorrow I'll be wearing my Angels jersey watching some great baseball :wink2:
Ok the series is tied and it has been good baseball so far.
Wow Vlad makes Matsui look like a minor player so far. A homer in the first game, and a grand slam with a solo homer tonight. What does Matsui do for the Angels?!? Outs and more outs. Man, I really wish we kept Vlad because he is having a great year so far.
Anyway, Matsui tends to pick up his bat in August and in the postseason where it really counts. I had a feeling Texas was going to take tonight's game against Scott Kazmir. But we will win the series tomorrow with Weaver on the mound!
Go Angels :dancingmonkey:
Great series and the Angels win it tonight! Man, the top of the 8th was an edge of your seat inning that is for sure LOL.
The Rangers are a tough team and they got a new catcher now. An ex Angel of all things lol Three of them
Anyway, I'm looking forward to see what happens with the Royals, and the Halos can gain more ground in the standings. KC should be fun baseball for the 4th of July weekend.
Vlad is a bit like Shaq in that he did not do his best to get in condition until it's time to move to another team. As much as I like Vladdy, I don't think you'd see the same player he is in Texas if he remained an Angel.

We will get them tomorrow tho. Sad really, Joe pitched a great game over all tonight
Very frustrating series to watch against the Royals of all teams.
The offense just vanished once again, not surprising since we're lacking in that category.
Bruce Chen of all people, throwing a perfect game through 6 innings.. I thought it was kind of funny to see that Jim Joyce was the 1st base umpire in tonights game too! He must be thinking, "This will never go away".
Yesterday the Angels had TONS of offense, but not tonight. Leaving bases loaded and a rough Kazmir start too. Man, it's almost a lose when Scott comes up to pitch.
I'm not sure if he will be able to stay as a starter going forward. Maybe the BP is a better idea? Who knows but the White Sox owned us tonight big time.
Some good news tho. Texas lost so we are still only 3.5 games back in the West. The Rangers got worked hard tonight too lol
