Go Halos!
I really don't like our pitching this year.
Weaver is really our only solid starter. Santana probably a close 2nd.
Our bullpen again sucks. Outside of Jepsen I hate seeing the bullpen come out to work. Shields probably needs the Speier treatment (release him already) and Fuentes/Rodney are too shaky.
I'm really just pulling for Brandon Wood to have a breakout season. The guy deserves to play and should have been given a chance a few seasons ago. Extremely slow start for him to start the season but the past few days he's finally starting to hit the ball.
I know it's still April but the Halos have been blown out in many games this year in their losses. It's ugly.
I agree with the Shields part, maybe not as far as releasing him though, but he has been inconsistent since Spring Training started. As for the rest of the pitching staff, I think they are just fine. The starting rotation is very deep, and can keep the Angels in most games. Which leads me to my next point; the offense. The offense has been too inconsistent, and they've been that way for a few seasons now. That is the Angels' weakest spot in my opinion. Brandon Wood has not looked good at all, despite his recent success. It might be a little unfair to critique him in that way, as this is his first season as a starter, but with his numbers with Salt Lake and all the talk about him you would think he would have had a better start to the season. The AL West is wide open, which means the Angels are going to have to beat teams they are supposed to beat, and beat teams in their division. I don't see this division being won until the last week of the regular season.
6 in a row now.. >_< I had a bad feeling when the Angels were terrible in Spring Training. It almost always carries over to the regular season.
Go Halos!!! They have been on FIRE lately and won the series against the Cubs today :pwned:
12-0 what a beating, and we will go for the sweep tomorrow. Also, it looks like Scott Shields is back in control as well. The Angels still have too many walks here and there from our relievers, but over all the team is kicking ass and then some.
Other than the beating we took against the Brewers this week lol
Thinking of beatings...we did not get the sweep today, but won the series.
I guess the Cubs wanted to take back those 12 runs from yesterday's game.
12-1 but no shutout tho :headhurt:
Other news, Erick Aybar is not rushing back just yet.
"We should know on Tuesday [when the Angels open a homestand against the Dodgers] which direction it's going," manager Mike Scioscia said, conceding that a retroactive trip to the disabled list is possible. "He took some ground balls yesterday, right at him.
"A player, if he's at a heightened sense of risk, you're not going to play him. If he's not ready, he's not ready. It doesn't matter if it's Erick Aybar or anybody else. When he's ready, he'll go out and play."
I'm hoping Aybar is back sooner than later. Wood at SS is not a pretty site today. He messed up a few times and wonder when the Angels are going to bench him for good.
I will be there on Tuesday night for round two of the Dodgers freeway series at the Big A! Should be a blast indeed.
As long as we take 2 out of 3 each series, I'm happy. :dancing-broccoli:
Can't quite figure out our starting pitching this year. Aside from Jered Weaver who is solid each and every game... its a complete toss-up. It seems like Saunders, Kazmir, Pineiro, Santana will all each have a good game, followed by a really bad game.
Yeah I know what you mean about our starting pitchers. It seemed like everything was in order, but the last week has been rocky at best.
The Brewers rocked the Big A which is funny because we are playing better on the road lately lol.
Tomorrow, I will be at the game to cheer on my Angels against the Dodgers! We swept them last time, and I'm hoping we win the series again.
What really sucks is how Texas is getting EASY interleague teams and the Angels get the tougher ones err.
Houston then the Pirates and then Houston all over again?!? Why not just give the Rangers the free wins now and be done with it. Sucks
Ok I'm getting ready to eat and then hit the road to Anaheim BEFORE the traffic starts sucking bad on the I-5.
I'm hoping for a great round 2 start against the Dodgers tonight :41smile:
I have never seen the Dodgers live at the Big A. So it should be a blast no matter what happens I'm thinking.
