Agreed and hopeful, but still don't think its strong enough against Philly.

MLB spring training buzz - MLB News - FOX Sports on MSN

While Martinís injury is not major, his absence exposes the Dodgersí lack of depth at his position. It also raises questions about Martinís offseason conditioning.

Martin, 27, reported to camp 25 pounds heavier than he was last spring, but didnít simply add muscle; his body fat also increased, according to one source, and the weight gain might have contributed to his injury.
    Awesome.

Looks like Garret Anderson has the inside track on making the team now. He's even working at 1B too.

I was kinda hoping Giles might rally and be able to make the team, but seems like physically he isn't able to continue playing. He also did look strange in a Dodgers uniform:

Gagne won't be replacing Broxton on opening day. Shocker.

Yeah, he doesn't look near ready for MLB action at this point. If he's willing to spend some time in the minors, or maybe an extended minor league camp assignment, then maybe he can work back into form with the extra time. Belisario's absence has left an open spot in the bullpen, but doesn't look like Gagne will be able to take advantage right now.

Nice to see LMU's Angelo Songco get a chance to play with the big boys in ST.

He just crushed one against the Angels today.

    Default Elijah Dukes released

Expected starter Dukes released by Nats | MLB.com: News

Elijah Dukes was released today. Still only 25 and a guy with physical tools (at least offensively) that could rival Matt Kemp. Also comes with a host of off-the-field issues, and a 2009 season that was pretty disappointing on the field. But it was just 2008 (at 23 years old) where he posted an impressive .864 OPS (inc. .386 OBP) with 13 HR and 13 SB in only half a season. To put in perspective, that OPS is higher than Kemp had last year in a Silver Slugger season.

Defensively he's struggled the past couple years, and his baserunning is reminiscent of Matt Kemp from 2006-7. But this could be a guy that Ned buys low on and could pay major dividends down the road. There's an open spot in the OF in 2011 when Manny leaves, maybe Dukes could be a candidate for that spot.

It'd be tough to fit him on the ML roster this year, as Reed Johnson is the 4th OF and if there is a 5th OF it will likely be Anderson in the lefty off the bench role. If Dukes is willing to spend some time in AAA in 2010 in order to have a shot at a premium job in 2011, he could be a worthwhile gamble. If he wants a bigger ML role this year though, there will likely be other teams that can offer that.
