I'm not a major league manager, but if you have two guys who will be platooning in LF and both need major defensive improvement, does it make sense to continually DH them in spring training?? Shouldn't you get them out if the field as often as possible to try and get them some reps and hopefully improve a bit? Thames and Gibbons have DH'd each of the past 4 games, and so far Thames is the only one who's even seen LF in a game, one time. Unless we're getting a DH spot by some miracle this year, I think Donnie Baseball should bite the bullet and start sending these guys out to the field.
I will see you...in the next life

Kim Ng bolts for MLB HQ to work for Torre:

Report: Kim Ng leaving Dodgers for MLB exec position - Los Angeles Dodger Thoughts Blog - ESPN Los Angeles

Gotta figure that part of this is that the teanm's situation is so much up in the air, so she's getting while the getting is good. Secondly, she always got on well with Torre, so this is her chance to continue to do so and get more exposure.

Dodgers just lost a good asset in their front office.

I always figured it would be a tossup between her and Logan White when Ned got the boot. Maybe it still will. From what I've read, she would make a good GM.

Logan White is overrated. ****er needs to focus on drafting hitting prospects. Sick of high school pitchers.

Yeah but you can always trade a pitcher for a hitter. I'd rather they get the best players available.

Yeah, but knowing him. he probably would've passed on guys like Jason Heyward for a high school pitcher.

Even if he drafts hitters, he can't force ownership's hands when it comes time to sign them.

He did draft Kemp, Martin, Loney (who is miscast as a power hitter but he can hit for high average if they leave him alone) and a couple of other guys. He did well with Bills and Kershaw. You are right though, he should go back to drafting gems but since McDouche won't spend cash on infrastructure, there is no point.

I take it you would prefer Ng as GM should it open up ? I wouldn't mind either. She seems to have a good rep from what I can tell.

Dodgers' Jon Garland has strained oblique, expected to start season on disabled list | dodgers.com: News

So it's back to the old "Ely/Monestarios/Old guy coming off injury/crappy journeyman" plan for the 5th starter spot.

Two weeks into Spring Training and we've already lost our #5 and #6 starters. VERY good signs for the upcoming season.
