If you guys haven't seen Moneyball yet, you must. Fantastic baseball film. Great performances by Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Agree. And it might be a first for many Dodgers fans to see DePodesta (Peter Brand in the film) in a positive light. Read the book a long time ago and thought the movie covered most of the key points.

I loved how they found a way to throw in the Kevin Youkillis "Greek god of walks" line. Also, it was great hearing Karim Garcia, essentially, labeled untouchable by Mark Shapiro.

Mother****ing bully almost blew a SEVEN RUN tonight against the D-Bags!

Too bad Bison couldn't reach 40HRs - helluva season though! Hope it's enough for him to do the daily double with ClaYton.

I'd REEEEALLY like to see a non-McCriminal 2012....please make it happen Santa!

The offseason is here again, the roster is actually in pretty decent shape.

Catcher: I figure some combo of Ellis/Federowicz and a re-signed Barajas will hold down the fort
1B: Loney was solid down the stretch, unless the Dodgers feel really confident they have a shot at Fielder (possible) or Pujols (unlikely), then I think Loney returns in 2012. The only other free agents possibilities are Carlos Pena and Derrick Lee, and don't see either as much of an upgrade from Loney.
2B: May be the biggest problem in 2012. Apparently Uribe will be at 3B so a new 2B is needed. Carroll and Miles are nice utility guys, but neither is an everyday solution. Sellers looked ok, but did not inspire a lot of confidence and finished hitting .203. Free agency looks bleak too, guys like Aaron Hill, Kelly Johnson and Mark Ellis. LA may need to find a trade solution here.
3B: Word is Uribe will be the starter in 2012, Blake will be gone and likely retire. If Uribe can at least approach his pre-2011 numbers this will be ok but not a strength.
SS: Gordon is the man here, hit over .300 and is an electric offensive force. Hoping he keeps the position for the next 10 years.
LF: I think this is Sands position to lose, and LA should bring back Rivera to challenge him. Free agency doesn't have any upgrades so I think the Dodgers fill this spot internally.
CF: Only question is how much will Kemp's extension be worth? My guess is 6 years, $126 million.
RF: I think Ethier returns unless a major trade offer comes through. If they Dodgers can get a 2B and at least one other legit starting player they may pull the trigger. With a weak free agent outfield class, he'd be in demand.

SP: Kershaw, Bills, and Lilly return. I think Kuroda also comes back for one last 1 year deal. Free agency has Wilson (no chance), Beurhle (unlikely), Edwin Jax (possible?), and Pineiro (no thanks). This should have been Rubby's spot, but he's out until at least midseason and I don't foresee him coming back as a starter until 2013. I think the Dodgers will go after some lower tier reclamation guys and have a competiton for the spot with Eveland, Eovaldi, Ely, etc. If Kuroda doesn't come back they will need to make a move for another legit starter.

RP: Biggest strength going into 2012. Guerra likely keeps the closer job. Jansen is the best reliever on the team and will setup and occassionally close. Lindblom and Elbert pitched well enough to be earn spots in 2012. All four of these previously mention guys had ERAs under 3.00. Guerrier is under contract, so unless they can trade him he gets a spot. That's 5 of 7 spots. McDougal was excellent and I think the Dodgers bring him back unless another team offers a big deal. Kuo and Hawksworth are still under team control, Blake was fairly mediocre and Kuo is a total question mark now. The bullpen should be just fine, if Kuo is done then another lefty might help.

My prediction: Don't see Fielder or Pujols coming to LA. Despit the claims that Uribe is the 3B, I could see the Dodgers spending some cash to go after Aramais Ramirez to play 3B, and move Uribe to 2B in that scenario.

Well, they are paying him $3 million next year so he's kind of a Dodger!

Casey Blake and Garland were bought out, that's a start.
