Is there disagreement about handling Yasiel Puig? - Los Angeles - Dodgers Report - ESPN Los Angeles

“Most of the time, the small things don’t get on ESPN so they’re not highlights, nobody talks about them so they’re not important to guys,” Mattingly said Monday. “That’s where development comes in. Kids come up and they have to know how to play the game.”

One way for Puig to gain a little more seasoning and interact with different coaches and players would be to play winter ball, but Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti said that wasn’t going to happen.
Sounds like Colletti and Co. aren't too interested in bogging Puig down with the fundamentals. Interesting approach. I really hope it works out.

Not good. He has a lot to learn still.

Agreed. We all wish the 2011 Kemp was playing. But the next year he missed 1/3 of the games, and this year more than half the games. Athletes whose bodies have previous injuries are much more prone to re-injure the same area as they age. Athletes health should be measured in a hybrid form of dog years. He'll be 30 next year. Ask yourself this: If he wasn't a Dodger who would you give up to get him, and how much would you pay him?

Kemp's value depends on the team and what the situation of that franchise is at the current moment. I think his name carries more value than his actual on field worth. For instance if the Yankees lose Cano this offseason you'll see them take a great interest in Kemp simply because they need a big name on that team for this season. You don't think Arte Moreno has had, and still continues to have wet dreams over the possibilty of marketing a already established So. Cal. star like Matt Kemp? The plus side with Kemp is that he plays in the NL, so there will be naturally be a bunch of AL teams like the Yanks or the Rangers who think Kemp will be MVP calibur simply by switching leagues and ballparks.

Which is why if we are going to trade Matt Kemp, trade him now while his name still has some weight. I think at this point we can unload Kemp on someone without having to put in 1 penny of what he has owed to him, and we can still pick up about three prospects with one or two of the prospects be + end guys. The key is to trade Kemp now though because if he has another season like he did this last season for the Dodgers, Matt will be the west coast A-Rod, or Teixeira

Don Mattingly to return as Dodgers manager in 2014 - latimes.com

This means no Dusty Baker and that's really good news.

Hopefully that Little League coach taught him how to hit a cut-off man.

If ownership had faith in Mattingly they would've already offered him a multi-year extension. Clearly they are luke-warm on him, at best. I say let him go and promote Wallach with the interim tag. He won't be a lame duck like Mattingly would be and instead he'd be on an audition. If a better candidate comes along then give Wallach the option to reclaim his role as 3B coach or let him walk. And **** Colletti. The guy was given a blank check 17 months ago and the team he put together is just not good enough.
Actually the team he put together was good enough and would have crushed STL. Unfortunately, injuries screwed the team. The backups are the ones that really sucked.

Unfortunately he picked the backups too.
