The Key To A Dodger Miracle: Two Lefty Starters Lined Up - Mike Scioscia's Tragic Illness

Good read about our chances in StL. Before the series started, we found out that the Cards struggled against Lefties and the trend has continued throughout the postseason.

Honestly, I expect Kershaw to pitch his ass off and for us to force a Game 7.

Since the creation of the NLCS the Cardinals are 0-7 when leading in the series 3-1.

It will really suck if we are the ones who end up breaking that streak. People are feeling a little good because we have two lefties going against the Cardinals, but honestly I think Wakka Wakka for the Cardinals has been what everyone expected Kershaw to be in this playoffs. Not that Kershaw has pitched badly by any means, but this kid has been Koufaxesqe in this postseason.

I think we get to Wakka Wakka today.

Wacha and his 8 Ks were impressive in Game 2 but don't forget that we did get 5 hits off him in those 6 2/3. If we can stay out of the double-plays and we can put a couple runs on the board early against him, hopefully we'll get to see St. Louis' bullpen. Their pen has already thrown 17 IP this series and has looked less imposing as the series drags on.

Not to take anything away from Wacha but you could make the argument that Kershaw out-pitched him. Kershaw only gave up two hits and no earned runs over 6 innings and made less than 80 pitches. Wacha had given up 5 hits over that stretch and had made a lot more pitches. The difference was one terrible past ball. otherwise Kershaw keeps going and isn't pulled for a pinch hitter.

Exactly. And let's give credit where it's due, Kershaw has been exceptional during the postseason.

    3 Starts
    1-1
    19 IP
    0.47 ERA
    8 Hits
    1 ER
    23 K
    .125 Opp BA
    .68 WHIP

    Those numbers are god-like.

Have total faith that Clayton and the rest of Big Blue will make this into a one game, winner-take-all series.

    Go Dodgers!

No doubt, I'm not saying at all that Kershaw hasn't been God like. What I am saying is Wacha got the win, and Kershaw didn't. Yes that run didn't count against Clayton, but he couldn't stop the run from coming in where Wacha did stop all runs from coming in. While the kid might not be as good as Clayton he does have a little extra something that Kershaw doesn't have at the moment Call it skill, call it luck, but Wacha is consistently getting the job done when it matters. That's why I feel more uncertain about this game than the potential game 7.
