So who is Weisman? Did he ever play ball above the high school level?
So who is Weisman? Did he ever play ball above the high school level?
But he didn't. DeWitt has. Until that changes, DeWitt deserves to play. It's still worth remembering that if LaRoche had produced DeWitt's numbers in 2008 - .373 on-base percentage, .389 slugging percentage, zero home runs - many would have considered them disappointing.
We're not talking about Furcal losing a job to Ramon Martinez because of an injury. DeWitt hasn't proven anything long-term, but neither has LaRoche. The choice right now is between two minor league third basemen, one of which has done a good job (so far) and the other has done nothing but get hurt.
Since the last dead horse we beat hardly exists, I guess I'll start beating up Eight Belles now (too soon?). You're extremely behind on not only the Juan Pierre discourse, but also the "what makes a good hitter good" discourse.
Juan Pierre is BAD at getting on base. On base percentage hovering around .330 in the previous 3 seasons is BAD. Especially for a guy who hits singles.
Stolen bases...Pierre gets thrown out about 25% percent of the time. That is about "breaking even" in terms of actually helping your team. Giving away outs: BAD THING.
There. That's the cliffnotes version. I can't believe this still has to be talked about, but ok.
