2) Don't subscribe to the Joe Morgan theory of "If it ain't on Sportscenter, I didn't see it". Juan Pierre DOES NOT get on base a lot. His season OBP is .364 this season. That's good. I'm fine with that. But can he sustain it the entire season? Doubt it. He's averaged .328 over the past 3 seasons. That's PITIFUL for a leadoff hitter.
If he can't keep it at or above .365 then coupled with his defensive deficiencies, he ends up HURTING The Dodgers. His weak ass arm cost The Dodgers god knows how many runs and extra bases and his bad ball vision led to 5 errors last year.
3) Sometimes, you'll get to appreciate what he brings to the table when he has a good series...then he'll completely **** it all up. Game 1 vs. the Brewers was a good example. 2 guys on in the 9th, Andruw Jones just worked a 9 pitch walk. Gagne, a guy with 5 BS already, has already thrown a number of pitches in the inning and after going 2 innings the game before looks pretty tired. Juan Pierre is up and what does he do? Swings at the first one. Pops it up. If that doesn't piss you off then you don't know baseball. Sometimes, players that have those kind of mind lapses just don't deserve the opportunity to start. Unless you have a bat like Manny Ramirez, your ass better not fall asleep on the field. And Juan Pierre has been guilty of that a number of times.
