Though at least he's finally learned how to take a walk.

Yes. Nice to see Pierre falling back down to earth...

Right now I would fully endorse a Pierre for Brian Giles trade.

Nice comparisons with a bunch of stars there........

Pierre has a higher OBP than Loney right now...... Shall we trade Loney while we're at it ? It's only fair, ya know?

Sure, I saw a bunch of stars. I also saw a bunch of good leadoff hitters, too. Rafael Furcal would be on the list, as well. That's a good leadoff hitter. Juan Pierre sucks. Bottom line.

And, no. Loney can stay. James Loney doesn't make Juan Pierre's salary.

And while admittedly James Loney is struggling pretty bad right now, I'll still take his .274/.329/.432 with 5 HR, 29 RBI with tremendous upside over Pierre's .284/.350/.318 with 0 HR and 17 RBI and who's over the hill and severely overpaid.

Loney .432 SLG; Pierre .318 SLG.

Loney is 24; Pierre is 30.

Loney is in a relative slump; this is above-par for Pierre.

    Try again.

You betcha. Take out the stars and it leaves for a more accurate comparison.

Why no outrage here for Hu's below average performance? Should we also send Kemp down to the minors since his OBP is just barely above Pierre's?

A bunch of no-name players who make peanuts (aside from J.D. Drew) compared to Pierre?

    See also: the bolded above.

    Because Hu is:
    a) a reserve who makes peanuts
    and
    b) he plays a position where offensive output is relatively rare.

Pierre plays a position where offensive ability is much easier to find, and yet we're paying him $9mil a year to suck offensively and take a spot away from a more capable, cheaper player.

    Matt Kemp .310/.358/.450
    Juan Pierre .284/.350/.318

They're not even close. Try again.

I'll give you his $9 mil in salary, but I really don't understand all the bashing he gets. It's not like other Dodgers aren't to blame for the lack of wins. What about Broxton stinking it up last night and especially on Mother's Day against Houston?

If Pujols was putting up Pierre-like numbers, then fine..... you've got a problem.

Another reason to bring up Repko

Until Jones got hurt, JP was regularly taking playing time away from Ethier and Kemp who are both superior players offensively and defensively. And every time one of the Pierre fanbois (all 2 or 3 of them) come in with some silly remark--conveniently only on the rare occasion he actually does something right--of course people are going to get riled up because we have to keep repeating the same thing over and over again.

Is he the only reason the Dodgers are hopelessly mediocre? Of course not. But he's also emblematic of a couple problems:
    - the stubbornness of an organization that teeter-totters between going with developed youth or overpaid veterans
    - the problem of Colletti being too invested in his own acquisition at the expense of the aforementioned youth
    - the bigger picture trying to convince people that while the stolen base is a weapon, it's still an accessory to more important things like say, actually being able to hit
