Milwaukee's Ryan Braun picked up his second straight Silver Slugger and was joined by a pair of first-time Dodgers: Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier. That makes the Dodgers the only team other than the Yankees with two selections.

So how about this deal, Pierre for Lowe? Braves are very thin in the OF, and have no speed in their lineup (Matt Diaz led the team with 12 SB). They are absolutely looking to dump Lowe's salary, and it's no secret he pitched his best years in LA. If ATL would throw in a couple million to make the salaries a little closer, this might be a decent match??
I don't know if the Braves would bite on that. They'll have McLouth the whole season and I'm not sure if they would want Pierre taking ABs away from Schafer or perhaps uber prospect Jason Heyward.

Also regarding Lowe, he could be trending downwards at this point in his career. His KOs were way down and his walks increased. While he's a sinkerballer who may get away with a low K rate, that usually isn't a good sign.

You're right, they most likely would not go for this deal, with the pitching market as thin as it is I'm sure one of the teams who lose out on Lackey/Washburn/etc. will offer up a better deal for Lowe.

How about this, congrats to your Dodgers 2000's decade leader in shutouts.....Eric Stults with 2!!

DeRosa would be a good fit if the Dodgers think he can handle 2B on a regular basis. He'd also get some time at 3rd, where Blake will continue to get days off, and 1B when Loney needs a rest.

Smoltz, not so sure. What would the realistic expectation be, that he could be a 5 inning pitcher for 20-25 starts? Same with the rumored interest in Pedro. I think there have to be better options out there at the moment.

Not a big DeRosa guy, especially if we are asking him to be our everyday 2B. I'd rather pursue Felipe Lopez. Both guys would yield the same compensation since they are type B free agents. Lopez is a much better defender and is still young so I think he's on the upward track while DeRosa will be declining.

It's a long shot but we could also pursue a trade. Possibly for Dan Uggla.

Also I think Blake DeWitt will be a nice fit in the super utility role, that you sort of spoke of with DeRosa.

Agreed. Both Pedro and Smoltz are low risk-medium reward type guys who are longshots to avoid the DL.

I know he's not great, but I would be more inclined to bring back Jon Garland. He's the definition of average but he's a lock for 200 innings. It'll be 200 average innings but with our offense that's not such a bad thing.

Third time is charming for MVP Pujols | MLB.com: News

Ethier 6th, Kemp 10th in MVP voting. Pretty impressive to have two Top 10 guys. I'd like to see at least one of them make the jump to top 5 next year, though both have the potential to do so. But as long as Albert stays healthy, he's got to be the favorite each season.
