Dodgers sign infielder Jamey Carroll | Dodger Thoughts | Los Angeles Times

Great counter move to the Phillies signing Halladay.

So we've replaced Belliard, filling the 2nd base platoon role. Carroll is better with the glove, but has far less pop than Belliard.

Still have 2 starting pitcher spots open, my guess is Padilla is brought back to fill one and the kids/veteran reclamation projects compete for the other spot.

Dodgers exploring deal for Reds' Harang | dodgers.com: News

Dodgers exploring a deal for Aaron Harang | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

Couple reports that the Dodgers are looking into a trade for Harang. He's the guy I figured they might try to deal Pierre for. I think he's worth a shot, at worst he would be a #4/5 who eats innings, and he has the upside to be a top of the rotation guy. Figure the Reds would have to pay at least half of his salary to make it work, no way the Dodgers are shelling out $15 million next season for a pitcher. though.

Keith Law is less optimistic about the guys LA got in the Pierre trade:

    Keith Law

"Ely wouldn't be a Top 10 guy in most systems. He's a changeup artist; throws some strikes, doesn't miss bats and won't in the majors without more velocity or a better breaking ball. So it sounds like the Dodgers traded Pierre for two guys who are fringe prospects if you like them and non-prospects if you don't."

    That's a brutally unconvincing interview.
