Dodgers GM Colletti talks Manny Ramirez - PE.com - Professional SportsWe try to play it pretty close to the vest. I've had numerous conversations with Scott Boras on the Manny topic. We don't publicize every time we talk or bare our souls in public with it, but we've had numerous conversations. I had one just a couple days ago. I had a lengthy one with him a week ago Friday. So we still want to see if we can get Manny back here. It's been a lot of different communication going on, and hopefully we can come to some agreement. What he did here for the last two months of the regular season and the first two or three weeks of October was unprecedented, and we couldn't ask for anything more, so if we get a chance to do something, we'll certainly do it.
Terms of Mota's deal - Inside the Dodgers
It's $2.35 million, with another $750k in incentives which would take it to $3.1 million. Still not sure how those incentives break down, but hoping to find out.
Seems Texas is the only team that has shown interest. Baseball seems to be treating this guy like he's as fragile as Dreifort. I think there's way more upside with Sheets than Garland or Looper. What can you really expect out of Looper or Garland? 10 wins, .500 record, 4.50 ERA. I'd rather have 22 starts by Sheets than 33 by either of those other guys.
WOOT WOOT!
Now let's sign somebody.
More on Troncoso as a starter
Reliever Ramon Troncoso said it was the Dodgers who requested he pitch as a starter in the Dominican Winter League, and now, the right-hander could become a candidate for a rotation spot this spring.
"I'd like to be a starter," he said.
A sinkerballer, Troncoso went 3-0 with a 2.57, going five innings in each of his four starts while working to add a curveball to his repertoire. He went 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA in 32 games in his rookie season.
Troncoso has signed up to participate in the World Baseball Classic for the Dominican Republic, but said he would leave his status up to the Dodgers.
