Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Bullets are cheap. Life is priceless.

The hit-and-run by itself was a dumb idea. Let your good hitters hit.

Uh...last I heard it took a good hitter to make a hit-and-run work. Gonzo has been hitting very well lately. So you get Kent moving, open up a hole in the infield and let him hit one through it.

Yeah, it was actually a very hittable pitch, i wonder what gonzo was expecting. Made that whole play look embarrasing.

The hit-and-run, when executed correctly, is a beautiful thing.

However, it just isn't very smart overall (like most overly aggressive baseball) because the costs outweigh the benefits. Yes, Gonzo has been hitting well lately... but he also hasn't been forced to swing at a particular pitch in each at-bat either. Let your good hitter go up there and work the count and swing at the pitch he likes instead of forcing him into an all-or-nothing situation.

And that's not even mentioning how slow Kent is.

Heh. Furcal was way out in center to get the relay throw and Juan-for-5 still one hopped that moon ball. Not that they would have prevented the run from scoring with a good arm out there. It's just funny how bad he is.

No. Kent doesn't score on a hit-and-run single by Gonzo. But he does end up on third base with nobody out. Gonzo has been hitting for contact lately. I say it was a good move by Grady and a bad play by Gonzo to look at that third strike.
