Question is: our payroll is already at $108 million (up $25 million in two years). How much farther will McCourt go? It's pretty obvious that Colletti isn't exactly a "bang for the buck" guy; he's more the "find something I like no matter what the price" type.

    He's the anti-Ishii.

As aggravating as last night was, it's one game, it happens. Webb is their ace. We win tonight and we take 3 of 4, go home in first place or a half game out. We have the pitching, I think we'll be fine.

Some of these guys are going to hit, I don't believe Kent and Nomar are both falling off the table the same week. They're old guys at the end of a long trip around the contintent. Give them a day off, get them home and let's see what happens.

I don't think $108 million is a big deal, not in LA. You guys are the #2 TV market in the country and you draw 3-4 million fans. You don't benefit from pinching pennies but you do benefit from going and getting good players. The better the team is the more money they will make.

I never said it was a big deal. I expect L.A. to be in the triple-digits in payroll every year. That said, there is a big difference between pinching pennies and getting good value out of your dollar.

You also ignored the question which was the point of my post: how much further is McCourt willing to go? It's obvious this team has some major holes even with the payroll at $108M.

Is there a legitimate reason for the Dodgers not to be in the Top 3 payrolls in all of baseball? As of today they are number 6 behind the White Sox, Angels, Mets, Red Sox, and Yankees.

I understand that McCourt has a budget but from the outside looking in it appears the Dodgers can add more payroll and still turn a profit.

Well, the Dodgers are a whole $1mil behind the Angels and White Sox so that is a bit of trifling I think.

I don't expect us to (or want us to, but that's a separate issue) spend like NYY or BOS... and we really don't need to, especially considering how strong our developmental system is.

Is today's game really at 3:40? What an odd start time. At least the shadows won't be a big deal assuming the roof is closed. Not that this team can hit anyways.

I didn't meant to ignore it, I just don't know the answer. When he first bought the team and went Moneyball I was very concerned, but the last year or so he's seemed to change. Not to get into the whole Moneyball debate again, I just think in a market that big with the base and support the Dodgers have, he owes it to the fans to at least be in the game and spend on guys the GM thinks will help.

For me it's 6:40, which is pretty much a regular night game. I actually like 9:30 or 10 pm the best, it's when I get the chance to chill out and focus on the game.
