You can function pretty well with a torn labrum. You can even throw with one. It might nag a little, but it's still torn. It's basically cartiledge, so you don't really "feel" it, but sometimes, yeah, you do.

It is a structural problem though, and it's necessary to ensure smooth overhead motion. Meaning, it was probably impinging Schmidt. But the thing was completely detached...I don't know how they didn't see that in the MRI when they saw the bursitis.

The sportstalk shows I've heard this week have mentioned that Eddie Murray's firing came because:
    1) Vets on the team weren't fond of him and his old-school "you approach me if you need help" approach
    2) The biggest lobbyist for his firing was Nomar. I wonder if his 1 HR had anything to do with that.

That's what Chad Pennington had, as I'm sure you know TBrown, and he played in the 2004 playoffs with it. Although he was sub par, he did manage to hit Santana Moss with a bomb and throw two TDs vs the Chargers in the first round. From watching Pennington and reading his quotes after surgery, it seemed like it was bothersome at times and not at others, but totally unpredictable from one throw to the next.

Yep. Well aware. I've had it, too (right shoulder). Had arthriscopic surgery, as well. When my shoulder started acting up again during my senior year of hockey (painful at the extremes...even started making a creaking noise...a creaking noise that was replaced by just straight up pain when two guys on ASU rammed me into the boards), guess what the Doc told me: bursitis.

Pretty sure it got torn again. Sometimes when I got hit or the arm got tugged a little, it didn't just feel like a swollen bursa sac. Felt like something tearing/shoulder popping out of wack. It really just seems like "bursitis" is a convenient way of diagnoising shoulder pain.

Pretty sure I did the same thing to my left as well. Hockey is really a painful sport to play.

What the hell is Jeff Kent complaining about. He tries to pull everything and then gets a good pitch to hit on the inner half and takes it for strike three. Maybe he should go yell at Bill Mueller some too.

    This is frustrating to watch.

EDIT: Just after I said that, Kent hits a two-run shot!
