    From the dodgerblog...

Updated balloting came out today for the All-Star team and while there's good news (Russell is still in the lead), the lead has shrunk slightly with just four days left. The Mets put on a huge campaign to try and help Paul Lo Duca, so be sure to pass along the word to your friends who haven't voted that they can still do it until 9 p.m. PT on Thursday night. If you've got friends who aren't Dodger fans, tell them to vote, too. If they know anything about baseball, they know that Russell deserves to start the All-Star Game and will vote for him. Sunday night, results will be announced and it's entirely possible that Martin, Penny, Saito, Lowe and Kent could all make the team.

Here's today's lineup, with an interesting piece of news coming shortly. Hate to leave you hanging like that, but stay tuned.

    Furcal, SS
    Pierre, CF
    Nomar, 1B
    Kent, 2B
    Gonzalez, LF
    Martin, C
    Ethier, RF
    Abreu, 3B
    Penny, P
Interesting news coming huh? Maybe Colleti was able to trade Hendrickson, Tomko, and Pierre for Matt Holiday. Umm, maybe not.

and a little blurb from mlbtraderumors.com...

The Blue Jays have changed their tune on Troy Glaus - they'll now listen to offers for him. It is believed Glaus might waive his no-trade clause to play close to home for the Padres, Angels, or Dodgers. Glaus is owed about $5.9MM more this year and $12.75MM in 2008. He also negotiated an $11.25MM player option for '09 when he was traded to Toronto. Perhaps to agree to a trade he'd want his deal extended through '09 for $13MM or so. Rosenthal says the package for Glaus would likely involve a young third baseman, like Chase Headley, Brandon Wood, or Andy LaRoche. Such a deal would be hard to ignore for J.P. Ricciardi. Of the three teams mentioned, Ricciardi has only previously dealt with Bill Stoneman (on the Brad Fullmer trade).
    Nothing really new there.

I'd welcome Glaus with open arms and hit him in the 5 spot.

He'd be by far the best bat on the team, so probably higher than #5...

But what does it cost us to pry Glaus away from Toronto?

I think it starts with LaRoche, Hendrickson, and a minor league arm.

As long as the minor league arm isn't one of the better prospects I'd be fine with that. LaRoche is the only part of your proposed deal that would hurt but you have to give up something good in order to get a quality player. The Dodgers would still have Martin, Kemp, Loney, Abreu, and Ethier in the organization.

    Furcal SS
    Nomar 1B
    Martin C
    Glaus 3B
    Kent 2B
    Gonzo LF
    Kemp CF
    Ethier RF

I'd take that lineup. Loney and Abreu would get regular work for Nomar and Kent. Pierre could ride the pine.

I think Pierre's long term contract makes either Ethier or Kemp prime candidates to be moved, sadly.

If Toronto asks for LaRoche, Hendrickson, Jonathan Meloan and Ethier for Glaus and Travis Snider would you make that deal?

You really think anyone wants Hendrickson, especially a saber-inclined guy like Ricciardi?

I think Toronto has to get major league pitching in return for Glaus. Hendrickson is far from an ace but looking over Toronto's staff I can't help but think Hendrickson would be an improvement over Josh Towers and Tomo Okha. Who knows when and if A.J. Burnett will ever be healthy. That leaves Toronto with a staff featuring Halladay, Marcum, and McGowan. Hendrickson gives them a 4th starter who has been more effective than Towers/Okha.

Obviously Hendrickson wouldn't be the centerpiece to the deal but I think he fits as an add-on.

    *sigh*

If only trades were as easy at they are on MLB 2K7.

Toronto will have zero interest in Mark Hendrickson. He makes $3mil/year, is a below average starter, and has proven to suck absolute balls in the AL East.
