They overpaid. But he will fit in nicely in a lineup where he won't have to be "the man" like he was last year here. He was definitely playing for his last contract last summer. I doubt the Phils get that same production out of him ...

Burnett took the Yanks deal, 5 years/82.5 mil. Lots of money going to the DL.

I don't think it's fair to see his numbers were the result of a contract push, he put up numbers as good and better the two years before. And going to the hitters paradise that is Philly should help those numbers even more.

The Wanks aren't messing around. Back to throwing cash at anyone with a pulse just to fix the problem. Little Hank must be getting his way. Credit to them, though we'll see where Burnett is at in year four.

They had a TON of money come of the books, Abreu and Giambi among others so no real surprise with the big dollars being splashed out.
