We were seated in our season seats in the same section we've been in for the last six seasons. I have seen a definite decline in the self control of the typical fans that frequent the Reserved section over the last three seasons in particular.

Three letters of concern I've written this season to voice my concerns. Those letters not only contained detailed descriptions of the issues I've had and seen, but suggestions on how to solve these issues. Not one single response.

I mean that people that attend other stadiums on a regular basis show a normal amount of self control and grace. I've worn a Dodger cap to every one of those ballparks (some even when they're playing the Dodgers) and have never gotten anything more than good-natured ribbing. Fans of the opposing team (or any team that isn't the home team) receiving death threats and physical violence from menacing-looking neanderthals who act as if wearing a shirt with an opposing team's logo on it is the same as if these fans of the opposing teams smacked the Dodger fan's mothers in the face with their schlong.

    a) Sitting in a better location (lower levels)
    b) Become an Angels fan (I doubt they have the homie problem but you may run into trouble if your truck is raised higher than someone else's. Beware of shirtless guys with askew baseball caps and white sunglasses.)
    c) Don't attend games at Dodger Stadium
Don't patronize me. I know exactly what I have to do to avoid this. Unfortunately, because my efforts to effect change have been completely ignored, the only choice I have is to avoid seeing in person the team I've followed since I could say the word "baseball.". Have YOU ever had someone threaten the life of your four-year old daughter simply because you asked them (quite politely) several times to stop using language so foul that it would make an airline pilot blush? It sounds melodramatic, but I'm simply no longer willing to expose myself or my family to that amount of frustration.

    Eeeeasy. Don't take offense, dude.

I agree with you. From what I've heard, some people/groups of people at Dodger Stadium can be pretty non-family friendly. I've never seen it but I've heard it a few times.

Have YOU ever had someone threaten the life of your four-year old daughter simply because you asked them (quite politely) several times to stop using language so foul that it would make an airline pilot blush?
Quite frankly no and I'm sorry a guy I know would have had to endure something like that. I'm sure it would leave a blackmark on the team I supported for a while until I realized that the problem lies with the fans and the lack of support/help from the organization's security. And although I'd never wish for that to happen to anybody, I do feel that one should know what they're getting into. Fact is, baseball in some areas (Dodger Stadium being one) just isn't family friendly anymore. Neither is football. Neither are the Lakers. I wish it weren't that way but unless the organization does something drastic about it, it's not going to change. And that's why -- if my tickets aren't good (too good for morons) -- I'm just not going. It's either that or become an Angels fan. And, I ordinarily would but my truck isn't raised. So I don't think I qualify.

It sounds melodramatic, but I'm simply no longer willing to expose myself or my family to that amount of frustration.
I support your decision and think it's admirable of you to take that kind of action even though I think it's at least a little supplemented by the amount of suckage we've endured this season.

I've been a Raider fan all my life and I'm almost 100 so I can totally relate to this type of fandom...I'm not your average Raider fan by any means but still I've seen it a million times.

A good friend of mine lives in Nor Cal and her family have had Season tickets to the Niners since the Eighties. This will be the first year that they will not renew because of the same things you are talking about...

I really believe that Ebay has a lot to do with it...that and the other online ticket agencies. A lot of season seat holders are selling their tickets to fans that didn't have access to some of those seats before and the family vibe is really diminishing.
I wouldn't necessarily blame it on the 'Homies" persay...I've seen plenty of all ethnicities being idiots...
But it makes sense to the area where Chavez Ravine is located.

As long as someone is payin' for those seats, I'm sure ownership couldn't care less.

Only FBJ can answer that one but my bringing up the "homies" is tongue-in-cheek. I'm half-Mexican so there's no racism being expressed on my part and I'm definitely not trying to single them out. Frankly, all sports teams have their share of idiots. Look at College Football for Christ's sake. Some team's fans are graceful, are classy and some are not. And unfortunately, the Dodgers and the Lakers have suffered from those types of groups. But if you go anywhere in the world, you will find that type of behavior from just about every class of ethnicity.

    From Tony Jackson

This just came from the club. If there are no lingering effects, he'll throw the first of two simulated games on Saturday.

Takashi Saito threw 32 pitches in his bullpen session this morning (both fastballs and curveballs). He did not report any problems following the outing.

Sorry to hear about your troubles FBJ. I think you should do something drastic and e-mail TJ Simers, he likes to stir the **** and this is right up his alley.

I haven't been to a Dodger game in almost two years and I live in the shadow of Dodger Stadium, the crap that goes on sometimes really takes a lot out of the baseball atmosphere.

It took THIRTY ****ING MINUTES for these FOUR people to get their food. Why? Because EVERY ****ING ONE of them had friends in other lines playing the \"Whoever gets to the front first\" game. The second one of them stepped up to the register, four others would cut out of other lines and join the person in front of me AND PLACE SEPERATE ORDERS.

Of course, when I took exception to this the second time it occurred, their responses included, \"**** you, white boy\" and \"shut the **** up or I'ma knife you.\"

    That's no exaggeration.

I hate going to Dodger Stadium. The last four times I've gone, I've had problems or seen people acting so despicably that it makes me cringe. Every time I gear up to go again, I hope that those were isolated incidents, yet when I get to the ballpark, I'm sorely disappointed. Having been to seven other ballparks, I can say with certainty that the negative experiences I've had over the last two seasons at Dodger Stadium are very unique. Security has no teeth because they're trying to be politically correct. Repeat offenders are let back into the ballpark the following night. There aren't enough ushers or security personell, and the security personell that ARE there spend most of their time out in the colonnade instead of watching over the fans in the stands. So until the McCourts start cracking down on parking-lot drinking and stop selling beer in the Reserved sections, I will buy no more tickets. I will pay no more parking. I will buy no more concessions.

**** that place. It's no longer fun and it's no longer family-friendly.
That just plain sucks, FBJ. I know right where you are coming from. I can't say that I've ever been threatened like you have, but I've certainly felt uncomfortable.

Not that it will make any difference but have you threatened not to renew your season tickets?

This is completely aside from you but it's kind of ridiculous that people bitched and moaned when the Dodgers hired LAPD to patrol the stadium during the games, yet we still see crap like this going on. Shameful.
