this trade is a little strange to me, but what im thinking is is that you will see wood at SS and that the angels are going to be trading one of thier pitchers so thats why they got garland.
Also i guess the angels need to do something because it just wasnt working anymore, yeah they had a nice season but they played in a weak division, and in the playoffs we all saw what happend. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what else happends. Im hearing that Kendrick,izturis,weaver or santana and ayabar for M.Cabrera and D. Uggla. Anyone else hear this?
Hmm... now we have Garland, Saunders, Lackey, Escobar, Weaver, and Santana. Someone else is going to have to move.
OC is a great defensive player... so I hope Izturis or perhaps Wood is up to the challenge. I know that the Angels organization really loves Brandon Wood and won't give him up.
Aybar will still look like a Utility player, so I won't expect him to start all the time. But this move will at least get Izzy off the freaking DH spot.
You Angel fans are crazy if Weaver or Napoli are untouchables.
This package you guys are talking about doesn't seem steep at all. Especially considering what the reports are as far as what the Marlins would want from the Dodgers.
If the package is Kendrick, Adenhart, Mathis/Napoli, and maybe another high level prospect(Wood, for example) I'd do that in a heartbeat. None of those guys are established players except for Kendrick and in the case of Mathis or Napoli you get to keep the other guy.
That price is not to steep for Miguel Cabrera. And since the Angels are in the AL you can DH if he gets to fat. He'll still be a dominant hitter. Howie Kendrick is a nice player but he's nowhere near the caliber of Miguel Cabrera.

I'd go to war with that if I'm the Angels. I do that trade in a heartbeat. When Anderson comes off the books you can let Miguel DH or play LF.
The Angels are in are much better fit for Cabrera than the Dodgers. And they want at least 2 established guys for Cabrera from us(Loney, Kemp, Billingsley) and our uber prospect in Kershaw. Makes more sense for the Halos than us.
The thing that really makes me go 'What?' is Cabrera makes $9 million next season, Garland makes $12 million but the Angels are the ones that had to include cash in the deal?
Haven't heard of this. If that deal is made, then the Marlins would be fools.
As for the Angels, Kendrick is good but not worth keeping if it meant getting Cabrera.
Weaver is good too but is not worth holding onto like Billingsley is to the Dodgers.
Santana should have been traded a year ago.
Izturis & Aybar are nothing more than good utility players. If I'm an Angel fan, the Marlins can both of them if they want.
I can't see the Marlins including Uggla, who hit 30 hrs last year, in any deal.
You're right. I wonder if it's because OC is on the last year of the deal while Garland isn't.
But still 3 million difference in the contracts and yeah... we still have to give them cash. Hopefully it's a buck... lol
