They did. Check the standings. THe padres are listed ahead because THEY moved on to the playoffs against the Cards. The dodgers didn't. The Padres won the season series, THEY won the NL WEST as they will do so again in 2008.

Last I checked, the Dodgers MOVED on to the playoffs as well. Just sayin...

If that one playoff game to decide the Division Winner and Wild Card makes you feel better, you can have it. The fact remains that the Dodgers and Padres both made the playoffs with an 88-74 record.
